The Visual Studio 2022 installer needs to be able to lookup a valid WinMD file for the 'Windows.Networking.Connectivity' namespace in order for the installation to start. A normal Windows installation contains lots of individual '.winmd' files (e.g. 'Windows.Networking.winmd'), which we cannot redistribute. Fortunately, Microsoft provides an open-source project called 'windows-rs', which contains a combined 'Windows.winmd' file that is explicitly MIT-licensed: https://github.com/microsoft/windows-rs/blob/master/crates/libs/bindgen/def… Make RoResolveNamespace resolve anything starting with 'Windows' by just pointing to this giant file. A full implementation will require us to actually walk the 'WinMetadata' directory (if the caller provides a custom path) and parse the matched '.winmd' file. C99 checks depend on stddef.h and stdarg.h. Those headers are usually shipped with compilers (and another copy of them as part of mingw-w64 for targets that use it), but some providers skip them. Adapted from [check_invalid_gs](https://gitlab.winehq.org/wine/wine/-/blob/d7a7cae2e2d1ad… in signal_i386.c. This prevents crashing when the %gs register is manipulated, such as in 32-bit code on "new-style" WoW64. "Exertus: Darkness Approaches" is a 32-bit game that triggers this crash (on WoW64), which can be downloaded from the Bugzilla page's attachments. For another example, [test.c](https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=77444) can reproduce it, courtesy of Fabian Maurer from the Bugzilla comments. This will crash whether it's compiled as 32-bit or 64-bit, while it works fine on Windows.
