Does it mean that on Windows it's rendered bolder if you ask for lfWeight bolder than FW_BOLD? For example if you create "Tahoma Bold", with lfWeight of 2*FW_BOLD. I can tell that for directwrite it's not the case, and simulated bold only exists when there is no detected bold in the family.
