[PATCH v3 0/3] MR8733: gameinput: Introduce new DLL.
Supersedes https://gitlab.winehq.org/wine/wine/-/merge_requests/8338 The header cannot seem to be generated easily from an IDL, gameinput has some unfortunate versioning which reuses the same identifiers across versions, in an incompatible way and sometimes sharing only a subset of them (for instance enum values), and uses C++ namespaces to separate versions. The implementation needs to support every interface version at the same time, which is implemented by wrapping identifiers and adding version suffixes whenever it is included by the implementing code. Is there something wrong with this? I suspect maybe the header file? Fwiw the Windows SDK ships the v0 version, but then the gameinput DLL also has a separate standalone SDK with the v1 version of the header. Both versions are incompatible and declare overlapping but different types and interfaces. The DLL itself has to implement both versions at the same time, as some older applications have been built using v0 interfaces while newer use the v1 interfaces. I'm not sure to understand. With the current approach, the differences between versions can be handled through `#ifdef GAMEINPUT_API_VERSION`. An application can build with these headers in a similar way they are built against any of the SDK headers, by defining GAMEINPUT_API_VERSION to their desired version prior to inclusion. The implementation (or the tests) can then additionally define `_GAMEINPUT_` which makes every identifier to be suffixed with the version instead, allowing us to implement every interface versions in the module (and to test differences between versions without having to duplicate tests in separate files too). There aren't that many differences, yes which is why I'm not keen on duplicating entire headers. Are you suggesting instead to manually change the name of the symbols which are being overloaded over API versions? Yes, I'd suggest to duplicate the definitions for things that actually need to be different, and keep everything else unchanged, and don't try to do hacks that require including the header twice.
