I've tried a few things to no effect: Disabling compositing Using -r1024x768 and -r800x600 (as recommended) Running on one core (also as recommended) Setting the resolution before running the game Running in a window This is the original UK version (not UK edition!) of Simcity 3000, both 1.0 and 1.1.
