I have created a version of the wine1.2 package that includes the native PulseAudio driver for Wine. This package is targeted at the Karmic distribution, so if you are testing out the new release can you try this package and see if it improves the Wine sound on Ubuntu for you. If you try it, can you report back your experiences in Launchpad please, rather than winehq. https://bugs.launchpad.net/wine/+bug/371897 You can install the software from my PPA https://launchpad.net/~neil-aldur/+archive/ppa To install the software follow the instructions on Launchpad (https://help.launchpad.net/Packaging/PPA/InstallingSoftware) --- Comment #131 from Aigars Mahinovs <aigarius(a)gmail.com> 2009-09-03 18:05:12 --- Wine is now slower in adapting to new technologies than closed-source software - Skype has PulseAudio support. I must say however that I see less problems with wine 1.1.29 alsa backend interaction with pulseaudio that there were before. --- Comment #132 from Daniel Harvison <sirbubbles01(a)yahoo.com.au> 2009-09-06 11:57:20 --- (In reply to comment #131)
Wine is now slower in adapting to new technologies than closed-source software - Skype has PulseAudio support.
I must say however that I see less problems with wine 1.1.29 alsa backend interaction with pulseaudio that there were before.
Isn't it acceptable to just use either the aoss wrapper or the padsp command with your wine app? I've been doing it for a couple of years now, I think, and I've had very few issues indeed. If the wine devs could somehow make wine take into account the presence of pulseaudio in a system so we didn't have to use these commands, that'd be great. I don't know for sure about things like audio latency with pulseaudio using this method, but from my own experiences, it shouldn't be a big deal at all, since I've been using pulse for both native and wine multiplayer games for some time now. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.
