The latter starts with Disable HSB Server checked. There are sixteen possible options, so checking them all is not feasible... (even 16 choose 2 renders 120 different combinations... :-( So brute force won't work. I did try disabling the CMAP, Intellimouse, and other obvious options to minimize the number of variables, but it still crashes after the splash screen. Maybe the backtrace gives a clue to someone accomplished in reading such things...
