After installation, you need to configure a call sign (ABCDEF should work) and check the KISS box. You also need sound card input and output - this can complicated, try to use something obvious like speakers for output and microphone for input. I am using a ham radio and a complex arrangement of objects created with qpwgraph. In my case when I run the vara hf app, it fails within 15 minutes, usually less. I have a windows 10 machine I copied the msdatsrc.tbl file into wine c:\windows\system32. I tried to register it but "winetricks regsvr32 msdatsrc.tbl" failed.
