Using the native d3dxof.dll the game loads and can be played. When I tried to copy WXP's d3dxof.dll into $HOME/.wine/drive_c/windows/system32 it does not help. What exactly do you mean by "using native d3dxof.dll"? Thanks!

If so, maybe its an segfault in d3dxof.dll. There were some d3dxof.dll patches in git these days, so I just tried to use latest git. Same Error and crash. Probably same engine. Needs native d3dxof.dll too. If you use the native one, the game starts but only shows "smaller" objects, like low-poly rockets and cockpit, but not the entire models like ships or airplanes. I don't see any d3dxof error in the log. Moreover I used Virtual Sailor 7.0 for testing my fix. Could you described exactly what happens ?
Sorry, I didn't check properly. VS works great now!
