[Bug 59978] New: wineboot: create_bios_processor_values CentralProcessor Update Revision.
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=59978 Bug ID: 59978 Summary: wineboot: create_bios_processor_values CentralProcessor Update Revision. Product: Wine Version: unspecified Hardware: x86-64 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: registry Assignee: wine-bugs@list.winehq.org Reporter: cheako+winehq@mikemestnik.net Target Milestone: --- Distribution: --- LLM said that this is used to detect wine and that may be, but it's hard to say if reading this isn't just part of normal anticheat data collection. `HKLM\\HARDWARE\\DESCRIPTION\\System\\CentralProcessor\\0\\Update\ Revision` is missing. "There is supposed to be a space." The game in question(Enshrouded) segfaults after logging the failed read, but it's impossible to say if the read is in anyway related. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. Change the registry entry and try. If it doesn't fix anything then supply the console logs along with basic things like what version of Wine you're using. https://gitlab.winehq.org/wine/wine/-/wikis/Bugs -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. Can't I just link the relevant code and you can read for yourself what the issue is? https://gitlab.winehq.org/wine/wine/-/blob/master/programs/wineboot/wineboot... It's true I don't know where the registry changes are being clobbered, but I assume that's just part of being volatile. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=59978 --- Comment #6 from Mike Mestnik <cheako+winehq@mikemestnik.net> --- This issue should just be about adding a registry key that Windows has but wine doesn't? Having an example of where this is useful is good to have, but the scope should not creep to include the whole example. Anyway, do whatever you want. I plan to write a patch and maintain it out of tree. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=59978 --- Comment #7 from Mike Mestnik <cheako+winehq@mikemestnik.net> --- Here is a lot more information about the example. A 5 min speed-run that reliably triggers a segfault: https://youtu.be/Dxx6wL0NIo0 It's the "Build hammer tutorial" entering the tutorial causes the issue. Another example, don't know what the trigger was. My guess is it was a timer. https://youtu.be/gZN1Exm7UGI Also attaching logs -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply.
