My wife discovered that the problem is that the fonts are too big. If you set preferences to show item tips for the Person, children and siblings windows and then put the cursor over one of the items that appear blank, you get the information in a huge font. The reason the other screens work ok, is that you can set the font size in preferences but we don't see anyway to set the font size for these views.
Don't know if you have already discovered this, but just in case, thought we would pass it on.

Spoke a little too soon, when you launch it there's a strange failure. It doesn't show the same log info you have though. Version 7 installs fine for me and I can confirm that mentioned commit http://source.winehq.org/git/wine.git/commit/ ba2ce9db498a40806d7bca5631ec8c50dd3b8dee definitely fixes a rendering problem. With current wine strings are rendered just fine.
