[Bug 56887] New: Total Commander ftps connection (TLS1.2)
https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=56887 Bug ID: 56887 Summary: Total Commander ftps connection (TLS1.2) Product: Wine Version: 9.11 Hardware: x86-64 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: crypt32 Assignee: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org Reporter: daniel.becker(a)quippy.de Distribution: --- Created attachment 76704 --> https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=76704 The stacktrace of wine that came with that error This used to work - however, I do not know with what version of wine. It stopped working a while ago. Tried to switch Operating System (XP, Win10, ...) but without success. This works in "real" windows (WinXP, Win7, Win10, Win11). See the stack trace for more information. This happens when I try to open a FTPS connection that is secured. FTP without encryption still works. I haven't tried SFTP, if that fails as well, as I do not have an FTP server supporting this. Total Commander is run in 64bit environment. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

Tested a few but not each wine versions back to 6.16~bookworm-1. I recevied the windbg crash dialog with 8.10~bookworm-1 and 9.0.0~bookworm-1. Later I just get the console flooded with: err:seh:user_callback_handler ignoring exception c0000258 Used a public FTPS server from [1] and following actions: Menu "Net" - FTP Connect... - New Connection Session: test.rebex.net Host name[:Port]: ftps://test.rebex.net:990 User name: demo Password: password OK - Connect This led e.g. for wine-9.0 to this backtrace with line information (shortened): Backtrace: =>0 CRYPT_CollectionAdvanceEnum+0xd9 [crypt32/collectionstore.c:189] in crypt32 1 Collection_enumCert+0x4e [crypt32/collectionstore.c:236] in crypt32 2 CertEnumCertificatesInStore+0x3c [crypt32/store.c:934] in crypt32 3 cert_compare_certs_in_store+0x18 [crypt32/cert.c:1624] in crypt32 4 find_cert_by_issuer+0x22b [crypt32/cert.c:1645] in crypt32 5 CertFindCertificateInStore+0x109 [crypt32/cert.c:1885] in crypt32 6 CertGetIssuerCertificateFromStore+0x4c [crypt32/cert.c:1968] in crypt32 7 in totalcmd64 (+0xae07f) (0x00000001e30170) An attempt to run with WINEDEBUG=+crypt leads to a different crash, because crypt32.so gets unloaded, but libgnutls still has a reference to the function gnutls_log from crypt32.so and crashes when it tries to log something, but this might deserve its own bug. https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=56887 --- Comment #2 from Daniel <daniel.becker(a)quippy.de> --- In addition to that: if you download and install crypt32.dll with winetricks the crash itself is gone. However, Total Commander is not capable of downloading the directory of the remote server. Maybe that way an older Wine Version worked. I cannot recall if I downloaded that, as I tried a complete wipe and reinstall of Wine (with default wine prefix) to get rid of any left overs that might cause that error - sadly did not help. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=56887 --- Comment #3 from Bernhard Übelacker <bernhardu@mailbox.org> --- Created attachment 80019 --> http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=80019 A run with +crypt and GNUTLS_DEBUG_LEVEL=1. Still visible in wine 11.0~rc3~trixie-1. This attachement is a run with +crypt (and GNUTLS_DEBUG_LEVEL=1 to avoid bug #59163). -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=56887 --- Comment #4 from Bernhard Übelacker <bernhardu@mailbox.org> --- Created attachment 80020 --> http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=80020 Workaround patch to avoid null pointer dereference. This patch only avoid the null pointer dereference in CRYPT_CollectionAdvanceEnum. With it a connection to ftps://test.rebex.net:990 without crash is possible. Unsure why at this point storeNextEntry->store contains a null pointer. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=56887 --- Comment #6 from Bernhard Übelacker <bernhardu@mailbox.org> --- (In reply to Hans Leidekker from comment #5)
On current Wine I can connect to ftps://test.rebex.net:990. Please retest.
Hello, I was as of today not able to reproduce the issue with ftps://test.rebex.net:990, also with old wine or debian versions. Probably this server received new certificates which no longer trigger the issue. 9.0.0~bookworm-1 working 11.10~bookworm-1 working 9.0.0~trixie-1 working 11.15~trixie-1 working Unfortunately I was also not able to trigger the issue with some other server. Maybe @Daniel can still offer a server that causes the crash? -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=56887 --- Comment #7 from Daniel <daniel.becker@quippy.de> --- On my Tumbleweed the current Wine installed is "wine-staging-wow64" version 11.15-1306.1 - and using the build-in crypt32 lib the connection itself seems to work. Now the "native" library crashes - for whatever reason. However, after successful login/connect the first directory-listing takes a long time (5 mins?) and the connection is then terminated with error "421 Data Timeout" - but the directory listing indeed came. It seems "end of stream" is not recognized. You can try with "ftps://fyn.quippy.de" and anonymous login. ftps://test.rebex.net:990 is also somewhat working, but the connection terminates because of this error when reading the directory listing:"425 Cannot secure data connection - TLS session resumption required." I guess, the FTP needs additional configuration for TC to work. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply.
