http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=59945 Bug ID: 59945 Summary: Halo 2 Vista crashes on startup, can't play movies Product: Wine-staging Version: 11.12 Hardware: x86-64 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown Assignee: wine-bugs@list.winehq.org Reporter: erwiniosef@gmail.com CC: leslie_alistair@hotmail.com, z.figura12@gmail.com Distribution: --- Created attachment 81308 --> http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=81308 Stdout log I have gst-libav, bad, good plugins installed, I can get past the startup crash with dxvk, but only with gst-libav uninstalled with which the game will play but with no sounds, with gstreamer complaining of missing plugins. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=59945 --- Comment #1 from Erwin Iosef <erwiniosef@gmail.com> --- I tried the workarounds mentioned in the db and bugzilla(wmp9,mfc42) didn't work. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=59945 --- Comment #2 from Rafał Mużyło <galtgendo@o2.pl> --- ...the content of your log is somewhat dubious... For example, which of those 'workarounds' were applied when you've made it ? So, make a fresh prefix - no 'workarounds', no dxvk - and attach a log from it. Could you also clarify the conditions of the crash ? One reading of your comments would suggest it happens in a clean prefix, but it could also be read as happening after removal of gst-libav... Also, why would the game try to show IME status window ? -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=59945 --- Comment #3 from Erwin Iosef <erwiniosef@gmail.com> --- Created attachment 81310 --> http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=81310 Stdout log 2(clean prefix) Ah my apologies, I forgot to mention I had Project Cartographer installed, thanks for reminding me. But it was in a clean prefix(with gst-libav installed), here's another attachment copied directly from runtime(with another clean prefix). As for IME, I don't know about that but I think it happens after the game crashes and project cartographer's crash window shows up. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=59945 --- Comment #4 from Erwin Iosef <erwiniosef@gmail.com> --- Let me try running it on a clean copy of Halo, I'll post soon. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=59945 --- Comment #5 from Erwin Iosef <erwiniosef@gmail.com> --- So I tried running Halo 2 fresh copy, which required Windows Games Live that didn't work and would throw an error. I tried installing the 'latest' as instructed here https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Halo_2#Install_the_latest_Games_for_Window.... The installer threw an error, so I ended up copying the patched xlive.dll(nothing else) that Project Cartographer provides and I got to get to the startup which crashes but Project Cartographer's error screen came up somehow. I don't know what to do further, except to run it with Project Cartographer fully installed. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=59945 --- Comment #7 from Erwin Iosef <erwiniosef@gmail.com> --- Created attachment 81314 --> http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=81314 clean prefix, game and only patched xlive Alright here's a last one, clean prefix, clean copy of game with xlive.dll used here: https://community.pcgamingwiki.com/files/file/432-halo-2-vista-xliveless/ -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply.
