[Bug 46871] New: err:rpc: rpcrt4_protseq_np_wait_for_new_connection wait failed with error 87
https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=46871 Bug ID: 46871 Summary: err:rpc:rpcrt4_protseq_np_wait_for_new_connection wait failed with error 87 Product: Wine Version: 4.4 Hardware: x86 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: rpc Assignee: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org Reporter: susancragin(a)earthlink.net Distribution: --- Created attachment 63932 --> https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=63932 NaturallySpeaking 13 setup log When installing Dragon NaturallySpeaking 13, the installation hangs up right at the last instruction. A prior bug 46160 was filed about NatSpeak 13 hanging up at the end of installation, and I think that bug might have been fixed in the most recent wine version, and this other bug uncovered. bug 46160 Anyway, the installation stops as of this: err:rpc:rpcrt4_protseq_np_wait_for_new_connection wait failed with error 87 I have posted the installation log. If I kill the installation and then try to start the program, the program works up to a point. It waves hello, and then asks if I want to register the program immediately or run it up to 5 times without registering. When I hit either of these options, the program crashes. I have included the crash log also. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

This is the backtrace log generated by the crash. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=46871 --- Comment #3 from SusanCragin <susancragin(a)earthlink.net> --- I think the bug has been fixed. I did a search of the logfile. (See attached.) However, either that bug was not the critical one or fixing this one has uncovered others, because the program still did not install. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=46871 --- Comment #4 from SusanCragin <susancragin(a)earthlink.net> --- Created attachment 70872 --> https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=70872 setup log as of 23-Oct-2021 If I have missed anything obvious, please let me know. Before running this I did try using a 32-bit wine prefix, also eliminating mono. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=46871 --- Comment #5 from SusanCragin <susancragin(a)earthlink.net> --- I run Gentoo wine-staging 6.19. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=46871 --- Comment #6 from SusanCragin <susancragin(a)earthlink.net> --- Created attachment 70882 --> https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=70882 with wine-staging 6.20 This log is perhaps more helpful. It was done with 6.20. No adjustments were made. I did not remove mono to force the program to install its own dotnet, or adjust the following registry edit. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System Verify "EnableLUA" registry key "Value Data" "1" (change to "0") Both of these are helpful in getting NatSpeak to run properly, but are not show-stoppers for installation. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=46871 --- Comment #7 from SusanCragin <susancragin(a)earthlink.net> --- So perhaps this bug should be closed, as well as bug 46160. I think this bug has been solved and bug 46160 is either invalid or also solved. I will file another bug about the new issue. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=46871 --- Comment #8 from SusanCragin <susancragin(a)earthlink.net> --- UPDATE (Please ignore all my earlier comments. My optimism was unjustified.) I run gentoo, now with wine-staging 7.2. When installing Dragon NaturallySpeaking 15 (the latest version) the program halts right near the end with the following: 0278:err:ole:std_release_marshal_data could not map object ID to stub manager, oxid=278, oid=2 0278:err:ole:CoReleaseMarshalData StdMarshal ReleaseMarshalData failed with error 0x8001011d The last line is this: 0150:err:rpc:rpcrt4_protseq_np_wait_for_new_connection wait failed with error 87 Steps to reproduce. Use standard wine prefix Remove mono (NatSpeak installs its own dotnet, which works well with NatSpeak 12, which installs and runs well). I get exactly the same error at the end of the installation if I try to install Zuken E3[1] with wine staging 11.2.
