[Bug 60418] New: Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator fail to initialize their native OpenGL renderer when Wine uses the EGL backend through XWayland
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=60418 Bug ID: 60418 Summary: Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator fail to initialize their native OpenGL renderer when Wine uses the EGL backend through XWayland Product: Wine Version: 10.19 Hardware: x86-64 URL: https://store.steampowered.com/app/227300/Euro_Truck_S imulator_2/ OS: Linux Status: NEW Keywords: regression Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: winex11.drv Assignee: wine-bugs@list.winehq.org Reporter: gyebro69@gmail.com CC: rbernon@codeweavers.com Target Milestone: --- Regression SHA1: 6de3ba92cf56c3a4869ea9289892eeb5818264bc Distribution: ArchLinux Created attachment 82222 --> http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=82222 WINEDEBUG=-all,+timestamp,+pid,+wgl,+opengl,+x11drv debug log When starting either ETS2 or ATS (American Truck Simulator) using their OpenGL renderer and Wine's EGL backend, both games fail to start. This is an earlier regression than the one reported in bug #60343. ETS2 displays an error message saying: "Euro Truck Simulator 2 is having a problem and is unable to draw graphics on your computer (no valid graphics device was found)." The game then exits. The issue only occurs with winex11.drv using EGL under XWayland. The latest Wine master works correctly with the GLX backend under XWayland. EGL works correctly in a native X11 session. EGL also works correctly with Wine's native Wayland driver. The Direct3D 11 renderer works correctly. American Truck Simulator is affected in the same way. It uses the same engine as Euro Truck Simulator 2. Both games are also available as Steam demos. Wine 10.18 works correctly under XWayland with EGL. Wine 10.19 fails. The first bad commit is: 6de3ba92cf56c3a4869ea9289892eeb5818264bc winex11: Remove PFD_DRAW_TO_WINDOW from EGL configs not matching the display depth. Reverting this commit on top of Wine 10.19 makes the game start successfully with the EGL backend under XWayland. This commit fixed bug #55021. Steps to reproduce: 1. Start a KDE Plasma Wayland session 2. Install and start the Euro Truck Simulator 2 demo from Steam 3. Select "Launch with OpenGL" in the Steam launch dialog Alternatively, the executable can be started directly with: eurotrucks2.exe -nointro -rdevice gl A steam_appid.txt file (with the content: 231120) is required when starting the demo executable outside Steam. Tested on: Arch Linux KDE Plasma 6.7.5 Wine display driver: winex11.drv through XWayland GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER NVIDIA driver: 615.71.09 Current Wine version tested: wine-11.18-341-g13625e51fd6 -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply.
