When Baldur.exe is run and the play button is clicked, it should run BGMain.exe, but due to audio-related issues this never happens. This sounds like a duplicate of bug 15030. If you issue the following command and then run make again, does it then work again?
git diff 3995627de20^ dlls/winealsa.drv | patch -Rp1
Yes, that does work.
