I am currently running Wine version 1.2.2 on ubuntu 10.10 trying to get World
of Warcraft to run with my current setup.
GCC is version 4.4.5.

The version of world of warcraft is latest (patched through wow launcher), and
the command I am currently using to start the application is "wine wow.exe
-opengl" standing in the folder where world of warcraft is installed.

the drivers installed are xorg-edgers.

WINEDEBUG=+relay,+seh,+tid wine sol.exe &> log.txt was not possible because I
never got past the login screen (application froze up) when trying this way.

Intel 3d drivers are broken. There might be some workarounds on the AppDB, but
in any case, invalid.

I am not running any Intel-based graphicscard though, this is a setup with a
ATI HD2600XT.

Well, ATI is just as broken. Have you tried updating the drivers?

I am running the xorg-edgers drivers as the catalystdrivers appear to be
retarded, and the stock radeon drivers aren't that good as far as I have heard.

Your best bet, AFAIK, is using the most recent catalyst drivers. This should
still be closed invalid; you can always ask for help on the wine-users mailing
list (forum.winehq.org)

I did try running a "export R600_ENABLE_S3TC=1" and running in D3Dmode, no
change in textures, so I'll try going for catalyst again to see if there is any
difference.

Running now with latest catalyst drivers, appears to be going fine in
OpenGL-mode.

However, the second display (although primary since it has the top\bottom bars)
is acting up, any "non-fullscreen" window on this screen will be stuck in the
buffer, as such I just run the firefox maximized on that screen and I don't
notice it.

Guess I will have to bugpoke the X-guys or the ATI-guys..

The crash in OpenGL mode is caused by a lack of libtxc_dxtn (aka s3tc support)
on systems using the Mesa drivers.

To my knowledge, the Intel and r300g drivers will work fine on any modern
kernel with the library.  r600g will require kernel 2.6.39 or newer to make use
of the library.  I don't have any knowledge of the Nouveau drivers.

This bug should be closed.
