As this screenshot (
http://img5.picload.org/image/icoddia/2015_06_25_22_31_17.jpg ) shows in Lion's
Arch at this position the water shows through the ground (graphic settings are
set to the minimum except with render sampling being native). Somebody on
Windows tested this too and the issue doesn't appear there.

Can you please test again using the latest version of Wine?

I haven't got time right now to confirm this but if memory serves whilst this
bug was present in 1.8 it has been fixed by 1.9 - if you have a moment could
you please test with Wine 1.9.5, ideally the staging build?

On testing this again with Wine 1.9.12 the issue does not look anymore like in
the old screenshot (maybe the terrain got there updated?). But if you look at
the edge of the terrain you still see the water showing through the ground a
bit. In the attachments is a new screenshot that shows this.

Could you retest with more recent wine? We are currently using wine 2.8. Also
if its not fixed yet, this bug would need some game logs.
