https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=52959 --- Comment #7 from Sławek <slawek(a)lach.art.pl> --- On Commandos.exe there smaller issue with screen resolution than on Wayland. Screen resolution changed, but there's small black area on right and left. Also, on X there is another issue, but it need probably different ticket to address it: screen resolution was not restored, when game quits. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=52959 --- Comment #10 from Sławek <nintyfan19(a)gmail.com> --- I retested on X11 and case is worse. Resolution is probably changed, because xterm window was bigger, but only black screen, when I minimize xterm window. When switching window via ALT+TAB, commandos window appears in part of screen (top-left corner), what is what it should be. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=52959 --- Comment #12 from Sławek <nintyfan19(a)gmail.com> --- Ok. Looks under Wayland it does not work. I think on Wayland (KWIN+WAYLAND) it works, because I use proton-ge probably. I attached other logs, but now from Wayland. On X11 there is only black screen and on Wayland, image is only on part of screen (rest screen is black; game rendered image does not render on full screen). I also debug xrandr, x11, etc. - instead of GDI. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=52959 Antoine Le Gonidec <accounts.winehq@vv221.fr> changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- CC| |accounts.winehq@vv221.fr --- Comment #16 from Antoine Le Gonidec <accounts.winehq@vv221.fr> --- I can confirm this behaviour in Wayland (sway), but it is not specific to some games. Nearly(?) all games trying to display in full screen at a resolution lower than the current desktop resolution are instead shown in the top-left corner of the screen. They are displayed in their requested resolution, and the rest of the screen (bottom and right) is filled with plain black to complete the desktop resolution. A workaround is to run these games in a WINE virtual desktop, but it comes at the ability to run them in full screen (that, due to this bug, does not work in the first place). -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=52959 --- Comment #17 from Sławek <nintyfan19@gmail.com> --- I see. On Kwin6 under WAYLAND proton renders game correctly. X11 seems to properly handle default fullscreen for all these games tested: Commandos: Behind Enemy Lines Cave Story (Doukutsu.exe) Plants vs Zombies Empire Earth: Gold (same bug but not in screenshot) Screenshots show comparisons of DPI 96 vs 256 based on tests for related bug: https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=59078#c13 DPI changes do not seem advised as fixes for these fullscreen/resolution bugs but should be considered for compatibility by bug fixes. Alt+Tab issues vary widely but worst case seems Empire Earth which malfunctions the same for both X11 and Wayland: https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=58308 MangoHUD reveals Empire Earth pauses rendering after window refocused via Alt+Tab and makes rendering updates thereafter only for mouse moves which causes the cursors trail bugs reported. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=52959 --- Comment #24 from Leonardo <kinetocore@hotmail.it> --- I can add another game to the list: Painkiller Black Edition (AppID steam: 39530) With Proton 11 and ProtonGE 11-01 it shows the same behaviour, slightly different if i'm using Wine-Wayland or plain X11 (Xwayland). I've attached a screen-shot to show the error. The interesting thing is that ProtonGE 10.34 that uses Wine updated to the commit 1729f00, works perfectly. I've reported this problem downstream both on DXVK and ProtonGE bugtracker but it might be a Wine problem: -DXVK bugreport: https://github.com/doitsujin/dxvk/issues/3762 -ProtonGE bugreport:https://github.com/GloriousEggroll/proton-ge-custom/issues/579 (here are some logs from wayland if you want to check) ----------- SYSTEM INFO ----------- System: Host: fedora Kernel: 7.1.3-201.fc44.x86_64 arch: x86_64 bits: 64 compiler: gcc v: 16.1.1 Desktop: KDE Plasma v: 6.7.2 tk: Qt v: N/A wm: kwin_wayland dm: SDDM Distro: Fedora Linux 44 (KDE Plasma Desktop Edition) CPU: Info: 16-core model: AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D bits: 64 type: MT MCP arch: Zen 4 rev: 2 cache: L1: 1024 KiB L2: 16 MiB L3: 128 MiB Speed (MHz): avg: 2986 min/max: 417/5763 boost: enabled cores: 1: 2986 2: 2986 3: 2986 4: 2986 5: 2986 6: 2986 7: 2986 8: 2986 9: 2986 10: 2986 11: 2986 12: 2986 13: 2986 14: 2986 15: 2986 16: 2986 17: 2986 18: 2986 19: 2986 20: 2986 21: 2986 22: 2986 23: 2986 24: 2986 25: 2986 26: 2986 27: 2986 28: 2986 29: 2986 30: 2986 31: 2986 32: 2986 bogomips: 268799 Flags-basic: avx avx2 ht lm nx pae sse sse2 sse3 sse4_1 sse4_2 sse4a ssse3 svm Graphics: Device-1: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD/ATI] Navi 21 [Radeon RX 6800/6800 XT / 6900 XT] driver: amdgpu v: kernel arch: RDNA-2 pcie: speed: 16 GT/s lanes: 16 ports: active: DP-1 empty: DP-2, DP-3, HDMI-A-1, Writeback-1 bus-ID: 03:00.0 chip-ID: 1002:73bf Display: wayland server: Xwayland v: 24.1.13 compositor: kwin_wayland driver: gpu: amdgpu display-ID: 0 Monitor-1: DP-1 model: Samsung Odyssey G5 res: 2560x1440 hz: 165 dpi: 93 diag: 806mm (31.7") API: EGL v: 1.5 platforms: device: 0 drv: radeonsi device: 1 drv: swrast gbm: drv: radeonsi surfaceless: drv: radeonsi wayland: drv: radeonsi x11: drv: radeonsi API: OpenGL v: 4.6 vendor: amd mesa v: 26.1.4 glx-v: 1.4 direct-render: yes renderer: AMD Radeon RX 6800 (radeonsi navi21 ACO DRM 3.64 7.1.3-201.fc44.x86_64) device-ID: 1002:73bf display-ID: :0.0 API: Vulkan v: 1.4.341 surfaces: N/A device: 0 type: discrete-gpu driver: mesa radv device-ID: 1002:73bf device: 1 type: cpu driver: mesa llvmpipe device-ID: 10005:0000 Info: Tools: api: clinfo, eglinfo, glxinfo, vulkaninfo de: kscreen-console,kscreen-doctor gpu: amd-smi wl: wayland-info x11: xdriinfo, xdpyinfo, xprop, xrandr -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply.
