[Bug 60456] New: Pro Tools Studio 2026.4.1 timeline overlays render outside the application window and over other applications
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=60456 Bug ID: 60456 Summary: Pro Tools Studio 2026.4.1 timeline overlays render outside the application window and over other applications Product: Wine Version: 11.19 Hardware: x86-64 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: minor Priority: P2 Component: winex11.drv Assignee: wine-bugs@list.winehq.org Reporter: skyler.clemens@gmail.com Target Milestone: --- Distribution: --- Created attachment 82276 --> http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=82276 Two screenshots showing the issue, diagnostic results, and notes. First, I want to acknowledge this occurred on my own Wine 11.19-based build with the patches associated with Bugs 60454 and 60455. After opening a session in Pro Tools Studio 2026.4.1, parts of the timeline rendered outside the Pro Tools window. The same content could remain visible over another desktop application. I was using Arch Linux x86-64 with a KDE Wayland desktop. Pro Tools was running through Wine's X11 driver and XWayland. Direct2D was disabled in the application config. On Windows, the timeline stays within the Pro Tools window, is covered by foreground applications, and disappears when Pro Tools is minimised. Investigation traced this to the handling of layered child windows in Wine's X11 driver. An experimental change keeps their position, clipping, visibility, and stacking in sync with their parent windows. Second, I acknowledge Wine's policy on LLM-generated code, as such I am not requesting a merge. My LLM-generated experimental change does exist in my own personal GitHub fork for reference: (https://github.com/LunchBox951/wine/pull/3) Please let me know if there is anything I can do to assist the maintainers. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply.
