Problem description

With Wine 11.17-1.1, mouse-wheel and mouse-focus behavior appears to be
incorrect when running Windows applications.

The problem began with Wine 11.17-1.  11.16 was not an issue.  It was not
observed with the previous Wine version I was running.

Symptoms

When two Windows programs are running under Wine, scrolling with the mouse
wheel in one program can also cause the other Windows program to scroll. This
is particularly noticeable with programs from SmartSuite.

There also appears to be a mouse-focus problem. In some cases, moving or
operating the mouse outside any Wine window can cause a Wine application to
respond to the mouse input.

When a Windows program is run with the /explorer option, drop-down menus may
close immediately after being opened with the mouse.

The behavior is intermittent. A complete reboot sometimes appears to resolve
the problem temporarily, but after approximately 10 minutes to an hour the
problem can return.

Although I have not found a reliable way to reproduce all of the symptoms, the
following behavior is reproducible:

Reproduction

Run:

$ wine notepad

Click the left mouse button on a location outside the Notepad window. The
Notepad title bar changes to indicate that the window is inactive.

Move the mouse outside the Notepad window and operate the mouse scroll wheel.

The Notepad title bar changes back to indicate that the window is active, even
though the mouse is still outside the Notepad window.

This suggests that mouse-wheel activity outside the Wine window is incorrectly
affecting the window's activation/focus state.

I have not been able to determine a reliable sequence that reproduces all of
the other symptoms, so I am reporting the above reproducible behavior
separately rather than claiming that every symptom has the same trigger.

I may not be able to perform an extensive version-by-version regression test,
but I can provide additional information about the affected configuration or
behavior if needed.

Additional observation

While preparing this report, I observed another instance of the problem.

I had a Windows Notepad window open under Wine while I was typing in Leafpad.
Text that I was typing into Leafpad unexpectedly appeared in the Notepad
window.

On previous occasions, I have observed keyboard input appearing in both
programs. In this particular instance, however, the input appeared only in
Notepad.

I was not able to reproduce this behavior intentionally. I mention it because
it appears consistent with the intermittent mouse/focus problems described
above.
