The others have the correct appearance and cursor but do nothing. (This is unfortunate if the first character is a newline!) Reporting bugs with such an old Wine version is not useful
Sorry -- Lucid's wine1.2 says "This package is based on a recent Wine beta." which may have been true at the time.
please retest with wine-1.3.37.

My guess was to run wineserver -d 2 for a short session to reproduce the bug, which resulted in 72 MB of stderr output. Do you have a fresh download link for StarEdit ?
The link from Comment #6 still seems to work; there aren't supposed to be any new versions.
Is the problem still present in Wine 11.3 ?
