1) Download the version labeled "Floppy" on myabandonware. All three appear
affected, but let's go with this one for now.

2) Extract and run "wine SETUP.EXE".

3) Instantly a message box saying "Insufficient memory or disk space" appears.
Not a single line of console output.

The issue does not reproduce with Proton 10.0-4 and others have reported issues
way further along. Maybe new WoW64 related?

Hello,

tested this with Wine 11.6 running on Ubuntu MATE 24.04

The test was performed using two distinct prefixes:
    win64 prefix: Created using WINEPREFIX=win64.
    wow64 prefix: Created using WINEPREFIX=wow64.

Results:

wow64 Prefix:
The installer failed almost immediately, throwing the following error:
"Insufficient memory or disk space."

win64 Prefix:
The installer launched successfully. 
However, during the installation process, three error dialogs appeared. 
Despite these errors, the SIMTOWER directory was created, and the application
was able to start.

Installation Error messages:

    1: Unable to create item in Program Manager Group: 'Maxis', item: 'Klik 'n'
Play Demo Install'.
    2: Failed: CreateProgmanItem(Maxis, Klik 'n' Play Demo Install,
C:\TEMP\SIMTOWER\KNPDEMO\SETUP.EXE, , 1024)
    3: Setup Failed. Please check the installation instructions or call Maxis
Technical support.

There was a mistake in my previous message.
Prefixes were created with following WINEARCH parameter.
win64 prefix: Created using WINEARCH=win64.
wow64 prefix: Created using WINEARCH=wow64.
