This is indeed very interesting. In version .38 I only need msxml3
override. comdlg32 is not required for the multiple ascii import to work
in WinXP mode. I did not try to delete the comdlg32 from the system32
directory, but it shouldn't be used anyway, if I don't do the override
by winecfg, right?

So to sum up: Everything seems to work fine with the following config:

Mode: WinXP
override: msxml3
wine: 0.9.38
