With the extension installed, if one tries to open an html email the call to the IErenderer.dll causes Pegasus to hard crash.. The Pegasus creates some temp files from the email message, and uses WPM$xxx.PM$ format for files. Was thinking perhaps in the passing of filename with $ inside them might cause issue since Linux treats the $ as marking a variable? With IERender extion it creates these two file 1110 05-16-2025 08:18 WPM$M1PL.PM$ 56167 05-16-2025 08:18 WPM$SXGZ.PM$ With extension uninstalled it creates these 3 files 1536 05-16-2025 08:15 STO30e6.tmp 1536 05-16-2025 08:15 STO30e7.tmp 56167 05-16-2025 08:15 WPM$Z65Z.PM$ Note both of the 56167 byte files are identical?? The purpose of extension is to better handle displaying html messages. Without it, some messages don't display as they should. One can then opt to open messages in a browser, and they will display fine, but then replying doesn't work. It should be being passed as the character rather than a variable. Can you supply a +file trace? Do you have download links for Pegasus and IERender? So he is working to setup domain again. But currently nothing. How would one run a file trace.

But seeing lots of not found lines, but files it says not there are there, but names are shows as mixed case, while files are mostly all caps. Hi, AFAICT one can just create a filename with a '$' somewhere in the name in Linux. Like touch 'DD$DD.TM$' happily creates it, and wine also lists it when I do 'cmd /c dir'. How can you be sure that that's the cause of the crash? It might be more useful to run with WINEDEBUG=+relay,+seh wine program.exe > logfile.log and attach the logfile here (bzip2 it to make it smaller) -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. Tried it with +relay only and did the same thing. Got to 4G before cancel. Then ran it with +sed Original logfile with 6M and with +sed is like 12M 242K Jun 3 10:51 logfile3.log.bz2 6.0M Jun 1 23:58 logfile.log 12M Jun 3 10:50 logfile3.log Don't know that $ is the issue might be something else. Saw no lines with error or critical in original log file. When thru original log file scanning for IERenderer and nothing stood out as an error. Lots of file nof found or no file messages. That could give you a pointer in which direction to search. Installed the ie8, and the process came up with no crash, but the panel that should display the message results in a completely blank panel?? So, ended up reverting back to winehq-devel and uninstalling the IERenderer extension. Can then use the option to open message in web browser (firefox) and it displays the information. Thanks for the info, was interesting. At some points, it the Extention is installed it would cause and immedidate crash. Later versions would have Pegasus Open ok, but if someone tried viewing and HTML message it would crash. There is an uninstall program that is included in the PMAIL/Programs directory that will uninstall the IERendeerer files. Then the html messages are display using the TER32.DLL and HTS32.DLL that do basic HTML message viewing. Just noticed that after crash, the temp directory has some files the same with or without IERenderer installed, but some of the files have embedded $. Generally, was just wondering since the $ is used for variables in Linux, if that might be causing an issue. Know the root issue is that IERenderer is using IE8 support DLLs in the viewing process for html messages. If messages don't display well in Pegasus, one can always open them with browser to get a better view.
