I reinstalled the game using the official installer instead of the loki
installer (http://liflg.org/). I also upgraded to the latest git

I installed the radio mp3s too (aka the Vice City Radio Station). The music
started to work in the audio _menu_ but when I started to play the game, it was
cracking again, like the most of the audio. Seems that only the "action" sounds
(see above) are working (mostly) okay.

My DirectSound settings:
Hardware Acceleration: Full
Default sample rate: 22050
Default bits per sample: 8
Driver: ALSA (I haven't compiled the OSS support into kernel and I'm really not
willing to)

Olaf, with "I only hear", are you meaning that you don't hear the sounds at all
or is it cracky?

BTW, if you're having (any of) these sound problems, could you confirm this bug?
