[Bug 35128] New: Air Conflicts (Pacific Carriers/Secret Wars) hangs at the loading screen
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=35128 Bug ID: 35128 Summary: Air Conflicts (Pacific Carriers/Secret Wars) hangs at the loading screen Product: Wine Version: 1.7.8 Hardware: x86 OS: Linux Status: NEW Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown Assignee: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org Reporter: gyebro69(a)gmail.com Classification: Unclassified Created attachment 46858 --> http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=46858 terminal output I have this bug with both games from the Air Conflicts series when running under Wine. The native Linux version of AC:Pacific Carriers (running under the Linux version of Steam) doesn't have the problem. Also, running the Windows version in Virtualbox doesn't have the problem. The problem: the game starts fine and mouse/keyboard work as expected in the menus, but when I start a mission the game is stuck in the loading screen. The game is not completely dead because game tips are cycling through on the screen and the text 'Press any key to continue' is flashing, but the game doesn't accept mouse or keyboard input any more so I can't get in the game. The ACPC.exe process is consuming 30-40% cpu, but nothing happens, I have to kill the process to exit. Appdb. I did a quick search keyword was Air conflicts (I think) and I got zero results. Maybe the name was something different? -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

It seems no test data for this game exists yet on Appdb. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

When a gamepad is attached and the game is configured to use that instead of keyboard and mouse, then I can get past the "Press any key to continue" screen. Some rawinput patch from Proton does fix the problem when only mouse+keyboard is used. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. Does this bug still exist in Wine 8.14? The important parts of the rawinput-keyboard patchset have been upstreamed (and I want to nuke that patchset completely)
Neither mouse nor keyboard work in vanilla wine-8.14-155-gafb00f7d987 when I get to the 'Press any key to continue' screen. In Staging only mouse button works on the said screen (I don't know when the rawinput keyboard patchset was disabled in Staging). -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=35128 --- Comment #15 from Aida Jonikienė <aidas957(a)gmail.com> --- Is the state of this game the same as before with Proton 9 and wine-staging 9.5 (aka the game works fine on Proton but has input issues on wine-staging)? -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=35128 Béla Gyebrószki <gyebro69@gmail.com> changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- CC| |rbernon@codeweavers.com --- Comment #16 from Béla Gyebrószki <gyebro69@gmail.com> --- In Wine 11.17, the mouse button was already working on the loading screen when 'Press a key to continue' appeared, although the game did not respond to keypresses on this screen yet. In the active gameplay section, both the mouse and keyboard work properly. This improvement was introduced by commit 44a822d2. However, in the current Wine-git version, neither the mouse nor the keyboard works on the loading screen again. Tested with wine-11.17-210-g2550c238151 on X11. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=35128 --- Comment #17 from Rémi Bernon <rbernon@codeweavers.com> --- Fwiw 44a822d2 has mostly been reverted with 24309da4c30a57283f4779ab218f5f2ecdada1e2, so whatever it improved has probably reverted back to its previous behavior. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply.
