[Bug 60326] New: mfreadwrite regression causes 'In Sound Mind' to crash during startup videos
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=60326 Bug ID: 60326 Summary: mfreadwrite regression causes 'In Sound Mind' to crash during startup videos Product: Wine Version: unspecified Hardware: x86-64 URL: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1119980/In_Sound_Mi nd/ OS: Linux Status: NEW Keywords: regression Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: mfplat Assignee: wine-bugs@list.winehq.org Reporter: gyebro69@gmail.com CC: bunglehead@gmail.com Target Milestone: --- Regression SHA1: 2f73d9efc2a060b56cde465e3d3cac523823ef5d Distribution: ArchLinux Created attachment 82091 --> http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=82091 In Sound Mind log (WINEDEBUG=fixme-d3d_shader,fixme-d3d,fixme-d3d11) A recent Wine regression causes the game 'In Sound Mind' to crash while playing/skipping the startup developer/publisher logo videos. Video playback didn't work before the regression either (only black screen was displayed); at least the game didn't crash back then. The problem is fixed by reverting the offending commit: commit 2f73d9efc2a060b56cde465e3d3cac523823ef5d mfreadwrite/reader: Fix async command objects leak. 'In Sound Mind' is a Unity game. I tested the Steam version which is DRM-free and can be started directly from In Sound Mind.exe without running Steam. The game normally attempts to play developer/publisher logo videos during startup. Video playback does not work correctly in Wine and normally results in a black screen, apparently due to incomplete Media Foundation support, but this did not cause a crash before this regression. The crash also occurs when using DXVK's native d3d11.dll instead of WineD3D, so it does not appear to be specific to WineD3D. The crash is timing-sensitive. If I repeatedly press Space immediately after launching the game in order to skip the startup videos, Wine usually produces a useful backtrace (as the one in the attachment). If I let the startup videos run normally instead of skipping them, the game still crashes, but the automatic Wine backtrace is usually unusable and only looks like: Backtrace: =>0 0xffffffffffffffff (...) The crash is therefore somewhat timing-dependent but reproducible. *The same Wine commit also causes a separate regression in the Windows Steam client: steam.exe and steamwebhelper.exe remain running, but the Steam user interface never appears.* wine-11.17-203-g788d90c4e1d -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply.
