So I can't confirm. The application apparently is configured as an Arabic language version: the fonts offered in the font menus are Arabic fonts, the main application windows, and the help screens display what is probably poorly rendered Arabic. Further investigation traced the problem to my: ~/.wine/dosdevices/c:/windows/fonts directory. The Mathematica installer had replaced the original fonts (if any) with a set of Mathematica fonts but which did not appear to work properly. I fixed the problem by replacing the ~/.wine/dosdevices/c:/windows/fonts contents with the c:/windows/fonts contents from my Windows XP system that had Mathematica installed. Solved?
