Initially, thinking it was a quartz/ddraw bug, I started looking into those but the decoding process seemed to work perfectly, as if the videos were instead just never presented to screen. I patched quartz to dump more information during presentation (see attachments) and it showed the following: DIAG hwnd 00030066 visible 1 style 0x56000000 exstyle 0 window (0,0)-(1920,1080) client (0,0)-(1920,1080) DIAG parent 0003005E root 0003005E root_visible 1 root_rect (0,0)-(1920,1080) foreground 0003005E 0x56000000 should be WS_CHILD | WS_VISIBLE | WS_CLIPSIBLINGS | WS_CLIPCHILDREN, and parent == root == 0003005E, so the video renders into a visible child window covering the whole of the game's toplevel window, which is the foreground window and is in D3D9 exclusive fullscreen. Adding x11drv logging then shows that while quartz creates the video window as a toplevel, the game calls IVideoWindow::put_Owner() on it, which makes it a child. Its content therefore renders offscreen, to be composited back by X11DRV_client_surface_present(), but that function returns early for any window that isn't the toplevel while the toplevel is in exclusive fullscreen, so the frames are just dropped. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply.
