Hi, What's the current state of OOP COM objects in Wine? I've noticed a lot of related changes, but have yet to find an InstallShield 6 installer that works. (I did copy the stdole*.tlb files to the windows & system directory) After porting the OLE changes to Odin, I tried the Java 1.4 installer. It fails with error 0x80070057 (CoMarshalInterface; failed to marshal interface) Trying the same installer in Wine (built from latest CVS) results in the same error There's a fixme for NdrDllRegisterProxy for the same GUID that fails in CoMarshallInterface. Perhaps that's the cause. Before I start debugging this, I'd like to know if it is supposed to work at all. Thanks, Sander

Dimi, Come on now, it isn't as if Brett is accusing Codeweavers of actually doing this. He just pointed out a potential flaw in the ballot system. The fact that you failed to comprehend the meaning of such a simple message casts some doubt on your ability to contribute much of any use to either this or any other list. The fact that you so arrogantly dismiss an other's contribution to the discussion makes one wonder just who it is who should 'do everyone a favour and bugger off' ?. About that eeevil library naming decision...

Hello all, I've just had prime evidence of yet another library naming conflict: libuser.so (which is in package libuser-0.32-1). (installed as /usr/lib/libuser.so) Other examples would be libole.so or libavifile.so. So could we please *finally* rename the wine libraries to libwineuser.so or maybe even better libwine_user.so ? Thank you very much... Yeah, people told me that wine libraries would be in separate directories anyway, so no need for that naming. But believe me, I HATED that decision from day 1. Packagers simply won't always choose a separate directory for wine libraries. DTR Flow Control

Is DTR flow control supported? There's a comment in comm.c in SetCommState that says it's not, but EscapeCommFunction has a SETDTR case and a CLRDTR case. Below are the lines I'm talking about. I'm working on an app that asks for DTR flow control and uses overlapped IO when using a modem. It establishes a modem connection, but then it can't send any data over the connection. If I have to get an update, I'd like to know if there's an already built version for RH6.2 to avoid rebuilding wine package, because Codeweavers hasn't refreshed wine versions and I don't find other built versions for RH6.2. Hi Michael, > Is DTR flow control supported? No. However the Win32 API uses very confusing names, so make sure the app is really asking for DTR/DSR flow control. DTR_CONTROL_ENABLE does not mean DTR/DSR flow control is enabled, it means turn on the DTR line permanently. Only DTR_CONTROL_HANDSHAKE means the serial port should use DSR/DTR handshaking. (AFAIK, DTR_CONTROL_ENABLE and DTR_CONTROL_DISABLE flags are not correctly handled in the current wine... they should actively turn on or turn off DTR). Additionally, there were some problems in the GetCommState/SetCommState code that saw DTR_CONTROL_HANDSHAKE accidently turned on, so make sure that it is really the application that is requesting it. As Marcus pointed out, the linux kernel itself does not support DTR/DSR flow control, but given the time and motivation, we could solve the problem if you really need to make this work... DirectInput -> Keyboard -> GetDeviceState

The MapVirtualKey in GetDeviceState is not "the way to do it". It does not map VK_?? to DIK_??. I don't know why it does work most of the time. "ptr[i] = 0x80; ptr[i + 0x80] = 0x80;" gave double key events in a game I have. The correct way to convert the keys is by this table (attachment). I made this table by pressing all the keys on my keyboard, and record the keycodes. problem with CreateProces

on #winehq we've been taking a look at a few programs that use CreateProcess at http://open-socket.dyndns.org/~dante/winetest.c is a simple testcase that should run notepad.exe ( verified in w98 ) in wine cvs we fail and go to the message box. unfortuantly. I don't know enough about wine internals to know what is going wrong. this test case though, should make it sufficently easy ( thanks to hax on #winehq : ) the interesting part of the error log is /media/wine/bin/wine: could not load library 'C:\winapps\NOTEPAD.EXE.so' as Winelib application: C:\winapps\NOTEPAD.EXE.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory Also, this came from a application we were debugging, which may be useful, because it is open source (!) and does a lot of twiddling with win9x/nt internals. ( can't find the URL for it atm though, so I'll put the rarup next to the winetest.exe as hl_cs_ogc.rar ) it has a call to strstr where it is trying to find "hl.exe", but the string has HL.EXE in it, so it fails the strstr test, so I'm wondering is strstr supposed to be case insensitive in win32, or are we passing a path that has mixed case, and it shouldn't? --Dante
