CopyFile fails sometimes

Hi I wrote my own little copy program which mostly works with CopyFile. It does so quite well but it fails on some file(name)s. The content is the one from the last file being copied. So it looks like the CreateFile somehow messed up the name as everything else worked and copied all files over each other. I traced it until the call to the server in FILE_CreateFile. I only had a look at the server code but couldn't see anything where the filename is analyzed (except for .exe and .com). Other files are copied without any problem, with or without extension, even extensions longer than 3 chars. But it gets even weird. My copy tool is a Win32 CLI app. I have a batch file which calls this copy tool to copy several files (of course). If this batch file again is called from a Win32 MFC+GUI app I get this described error. But if I call it directly with wineconsole batch.bat the whole copying works. So it may have to do with execution/redirection. But I'm out again. Anything I could test? Thanks bye Fabi

Runtime code vs compile time conditional compilation

I'm new to Wine development. Today I decided to have a better look at how Wine is built rather than just blindly running 'configure' and hoping that all would work out. I'm a FreeBSD developer, so I tend not to trust 'configure' to DTRT. Don't shoot me for that, please. 8-) I came across code in libs/wine/config.c that does a runtime check on the size of a couple of fields in 'struct stat' and executes code conditionally based on the size of the field being greater than 32 bits. Since I was using -Wall and -Werror, the compiler barfed when it saw an attempt to shift >= the number of bits in the variable. If I had my way, this sort of thing should be coded as a compile time test and only the code for the appropriate size compiled in. Is there some sort of direction for/from Wine developers for this kind of thing? -- John Birrell

Hi List, I tried to implement StartKeyRename in regedit, but it seems that TreeView_EditLabel do nothing. (It seems it only returns FALSE). Why? Is it implemented? Attila

registry key delete

Hi List, I made a patch to delete key from registry with regedit. However the changes don't shows up until treeview is not refreshed. Could somebody help in implementing RefreshTreeView? Attila

I heard news that windows 2000 source code was leaked and have seen what proports to be a filelist. Dont know if its genuine but for everyones sake I suggest that all people here completly ignore it (same as I will be doing)

Security in ReactOS and WINE with Lsass

Hello All, I am running in to more and more programs that depend on having a working Local Security subsystem. I have as a short-term solution adapted some of the WINE hacks for advapi32 Lsa* functions in to ReactOS but I would like to look at stubing out a lsass and moving all of the hacks there so Wine and ReactOS can share more of this implementation. I guess I am thinking that on Unix we can create as lsass.exe in wine/programs that talks to the WINEserver and deals with the unix<->Windows security mess and then on ReactOS we can implement our own lsass. This should let us share most of the same code in user-mode. Is this something that is do-able? If we try to follow this route with lsass and implement it like rpcss in WINE then we should be able to share most if not all of the code in question like we are going to try to do with rpcrt4. shell32 regression?

Hi, I don't have time to narrow it down to the specific patch but it seems the recent shell32 work has partly broken the shell browse folder dialog - an app creates one with a root of the Desktop and there are no subfolders shown. The app is freeware, you can get it at dvdshrink.org - click Open Files to see the problem. With native shell32 this works fine. thanks -mike

Does winelib implement main()?

I'm writing a Windows user interface from scratch but using winelib so that I can develop in Linux where the development of the program's library is taking place. I'm linking to libwine, libkernel32.dll and libuser32.dll but there doesn't seem to be an implementation of main() anywhere so I get a "undefined reference to `main'" from "_start". Currently I just have the WinMain function, no other code yet. What am I doing wrong? The winelib user's guide is no good for answering this sort of thing, by the way. It assumes you're porting rather than writing from scratch. Thanks Chris Seaton
