Hi Marcus Do you need a little(est) test with full source code that hosts an OCX (The OCX is IE but I can change it if you need). It is written with ATL/WTL. It will work fine with: "oleaut32"="native" but will crash with "oleaut32"="builtin". I also have a winelib that crashes the same (same code), but contact me personally if you need the source for that. (I could post the .exe.so with full debug info) I would give it a shut, but it will only be months from now. It didn't look very simple, but maybe I am wrong about that. Free Life Boaz

Some compatibility issue with InternetCrackUrlA

Hi all. I've tried some applications with wine, and discovered the different behavior compare to the real winapi. 1. If there is no explicit port number in the URL, the value of lpUC->nPort will be assigned to zero in wine, but in winapi it should be the default port number of the corresponding scheme. 2. Before call InternetCrackUrlA, if the field dwExtraInfoLength of lpUrlComponents set to 0, the ExtraInfo of the URL is not parsed at all; only the dwExtraInfoLength is set to non-zero, ExtraInfo would be filled. But Wine would always do parse. (I just find it has been reported at http://bugs.winehq.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1805) Below is a rough patch for this issue, some download manager apps (ie. flashget) affected work now. Honestly though, before the Euro, prices in supermarkets were in cents and added up to the cent but the total amount was rounded up to the next 5 cents. This patch brakes a lot of images/icons etc. Needs more testing. In particular small icons in all browser panes. Also we still have some problems with our DIBs, Which could be easily seen with native comctl32. So I'm not sure if we should use DIBs in imagelist yet. DLL, shared library, ...

Hallo all, I would like to ask you if there is a way how to convert .dll library to the Linux .so library? This library contains simple functions (something like voice codec) "without any dependency" on the Windows operating system - it's "platform independet", but packed into the .dll. I'm trying google, wine mailing list archives and I can't find anything about this issue. Do you think it's possible to do this or should I forgot and fight for the source code? +relay stops window output?

Hi I have a problem with debugging. Since cvs update today I can't use +relay anymore. The app window comes up but doesn't show any content. It's just an empty frame with dead visuals and doesn't react. I can drag the frame and close it. But it works ok if I e.g. have +ole. Same is with other apps which worked last week. Is this a known problem? Thanks bye Fabi

Outreach to local governments considering Linux

Well, one more local government in Germany announced they're migrating to Linux; this time it's Leonberg. (See http://www.heise.de/newsticker/meldung/44802) It's a small town, and they're only migrating 400 or so workstations, but it's a growing trend. France is starting to get into the act, too; Paris is reportedly considering migrating to Linux. Yet these towns face terrible odds. Fully half the specialized applications used by Munich don't have any Linux equivalent (source: http://www01.silicon.de/cpo/ts-csh/detail.php?nr=13043 ), and the situation is probably similar for the smaller towns. As it stands, Munich and other towns still need to run some Windows applications. Yet the idea of using Wine to do this has not percolated through to the public conciousness; the method usually cited is to use VmWare or Microsoft Terminal Server. Therefore, I suspect Wine really needs to reach out to local governments in Germany and France and let them know that the Wine community is very interested in helping them make the transition to Linux. I would like to start by creating a page at winehq.org that has information for towns considering migrating to Linux (links to feasability studies done by other cities come to mind). If nobody's opposed, I'll submit a patch to add that (though it may take a while, I'm fighting RSI again). Also, I think we need a mailing list, e.g. wine-gov(a)winehq.org, where they can post questions and/or discuss their situation. (Yes, they could use wine-users, but that's full of all sorts of topics that might not mix well with staid government workers; some of the games discussed there might even be banned in Germany...) They should be allowed to post in their native language if they feel more comfortable there; we have enough French and German speakers to be able to handle that, I think. If nobody's opposed, I'll post a separate message proposing its creation in a couple days. A few letters to companies consulting for these towns might also be in order. Here's an example letter. Any native German speakers out there, please feel free to correct my German! Once we have the web page and mailing list set up, we could send a few letters like this out. I think it'd really help.
