Hi, I dont know if anyone else is seeing this but with the latest CVS and with any recent Firefox or other mozilla applications I keep getting a crash with the following backtrace. Vertical font problem

Hi, I'm porting a Windows application to Wine and I found 2 problems. For simplicity I wrote a simple Window application (attached to the mail) that use two TextOut to write the strings "Horizontal" and "Vertical". The text is written horizontally and vertically, setting the lfEscapement field of the LOGFONT structure respectively to 0 and 900. The application, compiled with MSVC 7.0, works fine in Windows, but it has two problems when it is executed inside with wine-20040408 environment. First problem: after the application starts, the two strings are not shown. To see the strings in Linux, I force the sending of a WM_PAINT message when the user right click the mouse. By the way, if you minimize and then restore the application, the strings disappear. Second problem: even when shown, the vertical text is not correctly shown. A large amount of space is left between the string characters. Note that the problem arise every time you set the lfEscapement to something different from 0. If I use 3600 to show the "Horizontal" string, it also is badly shown (in theory 3600 should be equivalent to 0). Please, could you help me ? 7-Zip port more progress

Cleaned up build system to include compiled file's current directory. Needed to compile "Compress" directories. Patched here and there. 154 files compiled, patches 66 lines. (-22, +44.) There are 345 files total in the source tree. Now problem is that it seems wineg++ has problems with Wide character functions. Not in C, but it seems in C++ libc headers are included instead of msvcrt headers, resulting in compilation failures. Is my analysis correct? 7-zip port progress

Oh, I forgot. If you don't know what 7-Zip is, visit http://www.7-zip.org/ . It is a very good compression utility. Binary commandline version works flawlessly on Wine. So I am trying to port it to Winelib. Good thing is that its 7z format compresses much better than bzip2, extracts faster than bzip2, and patent-free. Did some more monkeypatching, for today is holiday (in Korea). 117 files compiled, (to compile standalone commandline 134 files need to be compiled) patches are still under 50 lines. Looks good. Following archiving backends are compiled: Arj BZip2 Deb GZip RPM Rar Split Tar cpio. 7z, Cab and Zip needs some works. Summary of patches I did follows: * * * In Common.patch: Common/CommandLineParser.h include wchar.h. Common/IntToString.h include sys/types.h. Strange drawing problem (32bit DIBs)

Hi there. Mirage by Bauhaus Software (image editing) has some serious drawing issues with Wine. The main workspace gets drawn correctly, but the interface pixmaps are completely wrong (wrong colors, redraw problems, increasing offset). One of the developers (Sebastien Miglio) told me something about the issue: "The problem come from the 32bits Pixels blit functions in Wine. Mirage use the MS Windows function StretchDIBits() with pixel biBitCount=32." Following is from README of attached archive. * * * This is a preliminary effort to port 7-Zip to Winelib. For now, "Common" and "Windows" directory can be compiled. You need Scons. It is a damn good build tool. Wine version used is snapshot 20040408 downloaded from Debian unstable. 1. Download 7z313.tar.bz2 source archive from http://sourceforge.net/projects/sevenzip/ 2. Run "sh prepare" 3. Run "scons" 4. It compiles, and you get lib7z.a. Commandline project files are located at 7zip/Bundles/Alone. Will try 7zip directory soon. As you see, all patches are trivial. Common/CommandLineParser.h include wchar.h. Common/IntToString.h include sys/types.h. Common/Wildcard.h rename to WildCard.h (note case!). Windows/Console.h PINPUT_RECORD -> LPINPUT_RECORD. Windows/FileFind.h define some missing constants. Windows/ItemIDListUtils.h include shtypes.h and shlobj.h. Windows/Net.cpp cast to const. Windows/Shell.h include shtypes.h and shlobj.h. tool for dumping relocation table

Does anyone know a tool that will dump the relocation table of a DLL? I am tracking down a bug that seems to me to relate either to a failure correctly to relocate a symbol or else to a corruption after the relocation has happened. Any idea when the tests will be hosted by winehq? Every build is only up to date for day, and once uploaded they stay on the sf servers forever, I see this a a waste of sf resources. Maybe an alternative temp location would be a good idea, until the tests are hosted on winehq. Ivan.

It's the virus sending itself, interestingly both the virus and the symantec removal tool work perfectly on wine :) The virus uses it's own smtp engine, so the first "Received:" should contain the IP of the infected pc. You could contact the ISP that provides that IP, and send them the email, they could then notify the user of that computer that his pc is infected. Ivan.

regression: crash on X2

Today's cvs crashes the X2 game benchmark and so does cvs "1 day ago" while "2 days ago" works, I got no lead, it has nothing usfull on the messages, the backtrace shows it crashes in the X2 exe file......... Printing problem; RHEL3U1 (CUPS) with 20031118

(Yes, I know 20031118 is a little old) Anyone any ideas what is going on here or any simple tests I can do? I am trying to get our company's software running on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3 Update 1. I am using the wine-20031118-1rh8winehq.i686.rpm I am printing to a SMB printer elsewhere on the computer. I can print the test page from the printconfgui I can print a text file from the command line (lp /etc/passwd) I cannot print from notepad; nothing seems to happen I cannot print from our application; I get the error: lpr: unable to print file: server-error-service-unavailable (I'll try the 20040408 when I can actually download it, but I don't expect it to change) (I would try changing to LPRng but of course RHEL3 doesn't seem to include it) Anyone any ideas? -- Bill Medland mailto:billmedland(a)mercuryspeed.com http://webhome.idirect.com/~kbmed

winelib application taking 100% of the CPU

Hello, I recently ported a small application from Windows using winelib. The app uses a third-party DLL that I don't have source for (which is why I'm using winelib instead of just writing a Unix program). The app isn't CPU-intensive under Windows. The app is just sending a short request to the serial port every 5-10 seconds, and sometimes getting back a short response. I'm not really sure how to go about figuring this out; I'm about to port another similar application, and I'd prefer not to have both of them trying to get the CPU all the time. This is with Wine-20040309, compiled myself for a Fedora Core Release 1 (Yarrow) Linux. I'm not really sure what my next step is in figuring this out. Any ideas? Thanks! ----ScottG.

Hello wine-patches, Some styles of static control improperly have DT_NOCLIP format flag. This is not like windows does it. The problem appears when size of control is too small. This problem was showed by wxwidgets controls sample. This message includes simple testing program for this bug, and also Windows'2000 screenshot. Marlett Replacement Useful for Wine?

Hi all, I have several people interested in creating a replacement for the Marlett symbol font included in Windows (used for drawing of window decorations and some widgets). Would this be useful for inclusion in Wine? If so, would just the TTF file be ok, or would you need whatever propietary formatted file they will probably be working with (I think it will be some Adobe product)? Rob

Problem with office Installer and filename resoloution.

The installer fo Office XP i broken in recent CVS. IT returns an error stating that a file does not exist, when the file in question blatantly does exist. After further investigation, it appears that the installer is trying to open "osp.msi " (note the trailing space) MSDN states that such trailing spaces are not supported, and it appears that windows simply removes such spaces when added to a filename. This has been confirmed by making a copy of the file with a trailing space in linux and then the installer finds it correctly. I am assuming this has something to do with the recent changes to the filesystem code, and am unsure how to fix this myself. -- Matthew Davison

Office installer broken.

Recently, the installer for Office XP has stoped working with CVS. The installer complains it cannot find OSP.msi, which is a file which does exist. Looking further into this it appears that the installer is passing the name of this file with a trailing space. Is it possible that the recent file access changes have caused this case to be handelled incorrectly, causing the file not to be found? -- Matthew Davison

[winecfg] - drive editing to use volume management functions

The drive definitions have been moved out of the ~/.wine/config file and into the filesystem and registry. The volume management functions modify drives are now supported(thanks Eric and Alexandre). Having winecfg use these functions makes the drive dialog useable for editing drive mappings, something we need before we can turn winecfg loose on end users.
