Support for IDvdInfo2::GetDiscID

The Windows api method uses the function call IDvdInfo2::GetDiscID http://msdn.microsoft.com/archive/default.asp?url=/archive/en-us/directx9_c… This returns a unique 64bit ID for a DVD. Has anyone found out what exactly it does to create this 64bit ID. It would be nice to get linux DVD players to be able to use the same method. Cheers James

text edit box not painting text ( on form startup )

( I have posted a similiar question in wine-users, don't flame me for doing so, just thinking about this some more, perhaps it may be more a developer question ) Ok, I have a windows app, that runs under wine fine - not quite. This app has a form, with many text field edit boxes on. Quite often these edit boxes already have text values, ie. they are not empty - there is a database behind the form. Anyway, the form shows on the screen, but the text within the edit fields is invisible, until you activate each edit box component. When you leave one edit box to the next, the text remains visible. It seems like the repainting is not working, on initial startup of the form. As a way to debug this database app ( I don't have the source code for it ) I wrote a real basic form app in Visual Studio, with two edit boxes, with data in each. Now this basic app shows the text values immediately on startup. So there must be something different that the database app is not doing. I then ran wine using 'wine --debugmsg +edit programname' for both app's. I see both logging 'Creating ANSI edit control, style = xxxxx' but the style reference is different between apps - I am not sure if this the cause or not. The problem app reports style = 54011104 and the basic app shows style = 50010080. Can somebody explain what this style reference means and how do I force an app to use a certain style of edit box ? What other wine class debugmsg types should I use to narrow down the source of this problem ? Don't crash on failing DRIVER_FindFromHDrvr

Hallo, I sent a patch to prevent wine from crashing last friday. It happend, when DRIVER_FindFromHDrvr returned NULL. No I found out, that I had sent that patch before last year. Wine bug with delphi Menus

Hi people, I think I discovered a wine bug. In a delphi program, changing the visibility of a menuitem (TMenuItem) causes the whole menu of that form to stop working, when the program is run under Wine. Behind the screens, the setVisible of a menu item calls MenuChanged. This seems to put the menu in such a state that, in wine, all menu components stop doing anything. I've written a small application (455 kb EXE) to show what goes wrong. Would anybody be interested to help me in solving this bug? Would a message trace from Winsight (for example) be of any help? Remote operations -- need for advice

I'm thinking how to implement CreateRemoteThread and besides fix memory management functions. The complete (afaik) list includes: RtlCreateUserThread NtAllocateVirtualMemory NtFreeVirtualMemory NtProtectVirtualMemory NtQueryVirtualMemory NtLockVirtualMemory (do nothing?) NtUnlockVirtualMemory (do nothing?) NtFlushVirtualMemory NtMapViewOfSection NtUnmapViewOfSection Suggested implementation. Let's add two groups of handlers to the wineserver, something like remote_operation_xxxx and remote_operation_xxxx_complete. remote_operation should do the following: 1) suspend_for_ptrace(); 2) inject a piece of code into required process and start its execution; 3) resume_after_ptrace(); 4) place calling thread into suspended state (or into some wait state?) remote_operation_complete should prepare reply and resume thread suspended by remote_operation. Injected code should call required function and then remote_operation_complete in context of required process. The question is: how to correctly get address of function? imho possible solutions are: 1) assume ntdll loaded at the same address for all processes -- unreliable; 2) get dll base address from per-process dll list and parse ELF by hand -- too complicated (?); 3) pass relative offsets and add them later to the ntdll's base address -- unreliable a bit: ntdll may be replaced, although, it is unlikely; 4) extend the struct process (server/process.h) and the request init_process with pointers to required functions -- most reliable and simple but looks ugly. What do you think?

console message encoding

Is it known that console message printed to output in wine internal encoding (OEM?), not in locale encoding. Is it bug or just needed coding right behavior? This is getting to be a common request. I think what I am going to do is make a script that tars up the appdb every night and puts it up for download. The only table it will not dump will be the userdb, for privacy reasons. I'll email you all again when I have something whipped up. vc++ install requires NetUserModalsGet

Hi, Taking the advice of Ivan, I downloaded the beta of Visual C++ 2005 to see how far it could work in Wine, and these are the results: # wine vcsetup.exe fixme:ver:RtlVerifyVersionInfo (0x406df40c,64,180000): Not all cases correctly implemented yet fixme:ole:CoInitializeSecurity ((nil),-1,(nil),(nil),0,3,(nil),0,(nil)) - stub! fixme:netapi32:NetUserModalsGet (null) 2 0x406df394 Then an error message pops up stating that "a problem has been encountered while loading components" and then it exits. Looking into netapi32/access.c, NetUserModalsGet is a stub and returns NERR_InternalError by default. I think vcsetup is requiring this call to succeed so it bails out because of the error. Reading the trace and the msdn docs about NetUserModalsGet, vcsetup is calling with the level parameter == 2 so it is requesting the domain name and identifier. With the included patch, I have stubbed the structure of the 4 levels that can be queried, but I haven't written the code to handle them yet. If anyone has any information or links that will enlighten me about netapi32 or anything pertaining to this matter, I would greatly appreciate it. quote from MSDN: "The NetUserModalsGet function retrieves global information for all users and global groups in the security database, which is the security accounts manager (SAM) database or, in the case of domain controllers, the Active Directory." Hello, in Crystal Impact's Diamond the list view is completely mangled and only barely recognizable as list view. There is no need to try to find appropriate mappings for LC_TYPE or anything else you find in the output of the 'locale' command. But still (almost) any locale setting you want to modify in the win32 environment on a per user basis can be done either by running Control Panel/Regional Options, or modifying the registry or win.ini directly. By default all locale data are set according to the global system locale. debugging a dll

Hi, Someone sent me a debug version of a Windows dll and a map file. I'm not a Windows programmer, and I'm not sure how to use the map fiile. For instance, I get a runtime error dialog. With backtrace in winedbg I get this: ... 29 0x400bf58d (NTDLL.DLL.RtlRaiseException+0x5 in NTDLL.DLL) (ebp=4083f9dc) 30 0x100771e9 (LIBDEBUG.DLL.EntryPoint+0x1609 in LIBDEBUG.DLL) (ebp=4083fa1c) 31 0x10097138 (LIBDEBUG.DLL.NIUIAEntry+0x1ad8 in LIBDEBUG.DLL) (ebp=4083fa8c) 32 0x100012b2 (LIBDEBUG.DLL..text+0x2b2 in LIBDEBUG.DLL) (ebp=4083fbf8) ... I assume that everything above NTDLL.DLL.RtlRaiseException is just code to put up the dialog box, and that the problem is at 0x100771e9 (LIBDEBUG.DLL.EntryPoint+0x1609... Program runs okay, but has tiny font.

Hello all, TD in #winehq told me to post this here. I'm trying to run the following program in wine, <ftp://212.67.96.161/loaded/diablo2/utilities/runewizard101.zip> It loads up okay, but the font in the program is really tiny and I was wondering if any of you knew of a possible fix. Flags for building an rpm

A colleague built a wine rpm a while ago. Here is the size and date: 9922591 Apr 29 14:32 wine-20040408-1muse.athlon.rpm If I look on the winehq site I see similar sizes, only slightly larger: wine-20040716-1rh8winehq.athlon.rpm 11662876 Unfortunately, my colleague is incommunicado for the next couple of weeks, and I cannot ask him how he built the rpm. I added a patch to fix the problem I reported recently in menu.c. Then, I built the rpm with the command: # rpmbuild -ba --platform athlon wine-20040408-2muse.spec Here is what I get: 85910178 Jul 29 21:25 wine-20040408-2muse.athlon.rpm This is significantly larger. I looked at the contents and the problem seems to be mainly in /usr/lib/ All files are significantly larger. What flags am I missing when I am building the rpm? Thanks, Dan Timis Muse Research, Inc.

Maybe wine-devel could consider creating a stub, or just falsely return true to these calls? Also, you might want to look at CVS code, to see if this has already been implemented. But since it can't create shortcuts, it never creates the reg entries. That's my theory. (See above.) Hope I helped in any way possible. Consider joining the wine-users/wine-devel lists, and taking part. It's a good idea, and using e-mail filtering software like POPFile is easy; even the most inexperienced users can just mention noticed behaviour in Wine. (Or, use internal filtering software in your e-mail client - 99% of wine e-mails already have [Wine] in their subject lines anyways.)
