No idea , dont use Notes/Lotus but I would guess it is picking up the fact that the alt-key is still down when it get the focus back and taking it as a keypress. It is not std bahaviour to take that as a keydown event but I would try to get out of it as you would if you pressed the alt in the app and then changed your mind. (Esc. Cntl_C , I dont know Notes.) That is assuming you have a problem with it. If you are just curious about why, I think the answer is the non-std way it is handing key-states. HTH. ------------------------ I can escape my way out of it by pressing escape though that escape event also translates into whatever the action would by if the alt key wasnt in the picture.So if you were writing a new note and pressed escape, it would attempt to close the note. Alternatively, you can hit alt-alt to cancel it which is slightly less anoying but none the less still annoying. I did notice one other thing on this. Alt-down event (without tab) in notes displays many short cut reminders. It will place little tags over vaiour buttons on the screen to say alt-buttonx will activate that button. For example, it places a "1" over the Send button (among other things) when composing a new note to indicate pressing alt-1 will send the note. The corresponding alt-up event will hide the short cut reminders and leave the file menu highlighted (as expected). Then pressing alt again will cacnel out that highlight of the file menu. Under real windows, the behaviour is different. Alt-tabing away from notes, and then comming back to it leaves notes as if nothing was ever pushed. It does briefly display the shorcut reminders but by the time I switch back to the notes window, there is no sign of alt ever being pressed.

OK, I think I've cracked it. After a lot of heaving and grunting I managed to reinstall Dragon Naturally Speaking into a fresh user account with the help of sidenet. This time I carefully documented the steps I took so as to be sure it was reproducable. What worked: wine-20050524; sidenet-1.8.1; Dragon NS v7 prefered En. and v7 pref Fr Ensoniq 1371 pci "soundblaster" wot wont: winecfg based wine releases ; more recent sidenet on previous above wine. muse5.1 cmipci (too quiet) Required natives: comdlg32.dll only. It may be possible to configure your host to to a WINS lookup for gethostbyname using samba; check your samba docs. Wine's netbios() can use a WINS server, but I'm not sure what call your app is using. I have an app that works fine when connecting to a Firebird database server by IP address but crashes when trying to connect by server name... Would I be correct in guessing that wine does not bother looking for WINS server when trying to resolve a name to an address? running two instances of WoW

works fine with cedega, but doesn't work with wine. It's like the two windows steal each other the focus (even if they are in different workspaces), it starts to flicker and both game instances are unusable (the whole desktop is unusable). Also, if I'm running one instance and minimize/maximize the game it seems like wine minimizes and maximizes the window about 3-5 times (eg. it also starts to flicker). Soem time ago I examined the wine code and found out that someone calls the win32 function for minmizing/maximizing the window several times. Are you aware of this? If there any intension to change this behaviour and in that case, should I provide more information? thanks tom

I'm a big linux fan. However, due to my many windows applications of which I rely heavily on, I cannot move totally to linux. I would love to help in the development of wine but I have very little programming experience. Do you have plans to developing a 'distributed computing' type of system, in the mold of folding(a)home maybe? I think if you developed an algorithm that would look for windows tendencies and possible solutions where people who use windows could put on their computer, it would help the cause immensely.

Hi, dlls/ntdll/exception.c is showing strange behaviour. If compiled with -O2 it shows different behaviour than when compiled with -O2 -fno-unit-at-a-time. The latter options should only be responsible for reordering functions. Is reordering of function order a problem with the DEFINE_REGS_ENTRYPOINT() functions in this file? I see the original function being moved from after the above asm stub to below the asm stub for instance, but the relay32.s looks like it doesnt matter. Ciao, Marcus

I want to add "Gold/Silver/Garbage" etc. ratings for Wine 0.9 for some apps. It doesn't seem like I can do this without erasing the old ratings. I'm not particularly interested in deleting the results of testing a version of Wine with some app. Could this please be changed to allow more ratings than just one? (It's also a bit annoying that I have to erase the workarounds to make an app work with <version x> of Wine. What if someone needs to go back to that version to do regression testing? They'll be sc_____... I don't enjoy having to remove perfectly valid information :-(.)
