Possible regression

Something has changed in the last couple of weeks, running the sidenet installer under solaris crashes Xorg, Under the Xsun Xserver I get an unhandled exception dialog at the same point and now the wmp7 installer just hangs there. Starting points anyone ?

Google is offering students summer stipends to contribute to open source projects! To qualify for a stipend, you have to submit a proposal by June 24th, and the proposal has to be approved. See http://code.google.com/summerofcode.html It would be cool if the Wine project put together a list of suggested projects for students to work on. It would be like http://www.winehq.org/site/contributing#devel but perhaps with a bit more guidance, and oriented around things the students can finish (and get past Alexandre!) by September 1st.

Requ: Detect a broken pipe

Hallo, I just mailed a testcase to wine-patches, fingerpointing at a todo_wine() with wine not seeing a broken pipe. This still keeps Altera Quartus from starting up. I tried to fix for myself for some time , but to no avail. Any help/patches welcome. safedisc stuff

Hi guys, Mike Hearn asked me to send the work in progress stuff, so here it is (some stuff has been removed for legal reasons, so you can't run it in a debugger). Some of it sucks (See QueryServiceStatus for the worst hack ever, that doesn't even usually work), but the design should be more or less ok. It needs lots of cleanup and optimisation. Ivan.

There were a number of update rpms recently posted for gcc. One way to cause this problem is to omit loading one of them. This happened to me and I believe that one of the updates was not posted with the others. All the updates are there now. The easiest way to check for this problem is to set up a kernel source. If that shows errors when you run rpmbuild then this is the likely cause.

Hi, I'm busy fixing up NtQuerySystemInformation. I've added a trace statement at line 694: TRACE("Processname : (%s), size(%d)\n", wine_dbgstr_w(procname)); This is because I want to change procname into a unicode string later on and just wanted to see what the content of procname is. The trace shows: trace:ntdll:NtQuerySystemInformation Processname : (L"Z:\\data\\install\\windows\\SysInternals\\process_explorer\\NT\\V9.11\\procexp.exe\n") Can somebody tell me where the extra '\n' comes from ? Google Summer of Code - Website maintenance

Hello, I'm terribly sorry if this is the wrong forum to ask my question, if it is please redirect me :) But, I think I'm in the right from poking in the archives. Anyway, I'm really interested in maintaining the Wine site as per http://www.winehq.org/site/contributing , and would love some more info on the the responsibilities and aims. I have pretty good knowledge of PHP, and enjoy web-design. I've worked with MySQL, but not any of the other commercial databases. My little homepage http://www.edmack.com has many little sites I've built up for various games. My day-to-day language is C++ (games development with openGL), although I originally learnt C. I finally got wine compiled and installed (with some libraries disabled). However, I can't get it to run winelib application such as notepad yet. Feasible google summer of code project?

I asked in #winehq where I should ask about this, and I was sent here. So no flames if they were horribly wrong, I tried ;) I'm an undergraduate CS student, and I've been reading the wine newsletter for a while now because I find the project rather cool to watch. When I started using Linux a year ago wine didn't run my screenwriting software at all -- it's now fully functional. That's just flippin' sweet :) So, naturally, I'm excited at the idea of maybe hacking on wine. I'm not a super experienced C programmer. I know Standard C but have never actually worked on a large project in it before. I pick up new languages rather quickly though, and I've worked in Java, C, C++, Matlab, Lisp, and Python (my current favorite). But because I'm not a low level C guru (yet), I looked for things I could contribute to that weren't frightening -- some of the suggestions on the Wiki summer of code page look like they're meant for people already familiar with the wine codebase. That said, I'm interested in picking up the desktop integration areas that wine currently lacks. Working trash, my documents, autorun, xdg menu support (adding start menu items to the K-menu for instance), winebrowser, and icon themes. Basically a good chunk of stuff on the fun projects page. Two questions: 1. My understanding is the mentor organizations get to choose who they want. Is the wine project still interested in someone with my relatively low C/wine code base experience or should I just look elsewhere? 2. Is this something feasible for a proposal? Could it realistically be completed over the summer, say with 10 (insert your realistic number here) hours a week of work? You guys know the code better than I do :)
