Hello, is anyone working on this? Or are we going to get rid of tools/winapi/msvcmaker. If not, this is my try to fix the tool. Hello, assuming that this patch has not been commited since AJ does not regard it as obvious and riskfree (or even as wrong), how could I improve the patch at http://www.winehq.org/hypermail/wine-patches/2005/06/0262.html (Loads the file/folder context menu of the file menus from the resource file.) In addition, I have the problem with exporting RTF files using richedit: They are all cropped at 8 kBi (= 8192 bytes) - at least using the program Diamond2 (even if only a final '}' is missing). winecfg version breakage

First post! Now that winecfg writes to the registry (yay!), we can't set the Windows version. winecfg writes the version to HKCU\\Software\\Wine\\Version. ntdll looks for it in HKLM\\Software\\Wine\\Wine\\Config\\Version. bug in winetest gui

On some systems the tag window is created as modal, but doesn't get focus until the user clicks on the dialogue box or the winetest window. I've found this on windows server 2003 service pack 1, Michael Jung has confirmed this happens on windows server 2003 and windows xp service pack 2. I don't see why Microsoft would change an old and tested function like DialogBoxParam, but something is going wrong. Michael also reported focus stays on the about box in the wine test window, so this windows isn't disabled properly. For some reason I can't get winetest to cross compile here, as I can't try fixing it myself I thought I'd might as well report it. BTW the tag box takes focus correctly on nt 4.0 sp6 Ivan.

Alsa initialization change

Attached is a fairly sizable patch that revamps the way Alsa initialization is done. With this patch, Wine now does the following: scan all cards given by Alsa (not brute force 0-5), respect alsa defaults and environment variable overrides, probe to see if a reported Alsa device is useful (e.g. strip my Modem from the list of reported sound cards), and provide a mechanism for an end user to explicitly configure Wine to use Alsa. The default configuration values should 'just work' in most cases, but the following registry values are permitted to provide finer control: ** [Software\Wine\Wine\Config\ALSA] ** AutoScanCards Whether or not to scan all known sound cards ** and add them to Wine's list (default yes) ** AutoScanDevices Whether or not to scan all known PCM devices ** on each card (default no) ** UsePlugDevice Whether or not to use the plug:hw device, ** which automagically handles rate conversion (def yes) ** DeviceCount If present, specifies the number of hard coded ** Alsa devices to add to Wine's list; default 0 ** DevicePCMn Specifies the Alsa PCM devices to open for ** Device n (where n goes from 1 to DeviceCount) ** DeviceCTLn Specifies the Alsa control devices to open for ** Device n (where n goes from 1 to DeviceCount) ** ** Using AutoScanCards no, and then Devicexxx info ** is a way to exactly specify the devices used by Wine. I'd appreciate anyone passionately interested in Alsa (Kevin? Robert?) taking the time to try this patch. VMWare Licenses

A few weeks ago Ivan asked me about getting him a VMWare Workstation license. I contacted VMWare and they graciously donated 5 licenses to Wine. I thought that was pretty generous of them. I contacted some people off-list about it, so now Ivan, Jacek, Hannu, and James all have a copy of VMWare. That means we have 1 more license up for grabs. It's open to anyone. However, I'd like to make sure you'll use it. If you don't have a track record of contributing patches to Wine you're not likely to get it. Likewise, if you don't think you'd use it then please don't ask for it just to have it. Having said that, by all means contact me if you think it would help you out. A lot of Wine developers have been using it for a while and it's a useful tool. Thanks again to VMWare for supporting a free software project! -Brian

Hey , and it looks to be working nicely , damn you ;) You just have to resist sending everyone three page emails now! I got one step nearer by moving from 20050310-r1 to 20050524 . This enabled wine to correctly adjust the volume settings and got me through the basic audio setup of NS7. Although I had to turn off the mike boost using alsamixer since NS/wine did not seem to be aware of it. In fact it appears not to set the mike capture but the mike playback volume, so disfuntional but it did not block. I can enter general training for the user and the dlg comes up fine but the only button the works is ... Cancel. This was on alsa-1.08 , I may try 1-09b tommorow.
