I'm trying to install Visual C++.net and it is quiting without error. The paths look strange in this trace. Indeed, if we have to play with libavcodec files and build, why not just take a version of this library, hack it to generate a libwineavcodec.so which contains all the typical codecs we want to be supported in wine and finally generate an rpm which contain the shared lib + the headers. This way if I want one day to break all the video (and soon audio) wrapper, noone will have to update the lib. The update will be done from time to time when syncing with ffmpeg sources. And finally, when the time comes when ffmpeg people provide and maintain a shared lib with a stable API, we will have just to drop ours and take theirs. :-) The problem is to find a place to host it and find a victim to do the package and maintain it. wine loader anamoly

Hello, I am using wine-20040309 on my rehat 9 machine. When I use wine in the default redhat 9 kernel 2.4.20-8, i see that the wineserver and wine-pthread binaries are running. Whereas when i use the vannila kernel 2.4.20, wineserver and wine-kthread binaries are running. Can anyone explain the reason behind this behavious of wine. You help would be highly appreciated. Hello, I've been following the wine-devel lists for some time now, but I never found time to actually work on something... until now. I am trying to get civilization 2 to work (with some succes). I chose that game for some reasons (I like the game and the error looks easy, a bit like the tutorials). Debugger under Solaris

I need some help to implement the debugger under Solaris. In particular I need help with how ptrace interacts with the threading model under Linux which I understand uses processes for threads. Since Solaris has user mode threads, stopping a pid stops all the threads in the debugee which used to deadlock the debugger. This suggests I need to operate on threads within processes rather than the processes themselves. This is possible with a few IPC tricks, but I need to understand the semantics Any volunteers ?

Hi guys, has ANYONE done any testing with my experimental SetThreadPriority patch which I mailed on May 15? So far I haven't received any replies, despite this probably being rather interesting, given that it is implemented by many of our winmm threads... Flattening dll directories.

Hi there, I was looking over the Janitorial section on the wiki, and it seems like flattening dlls is something I could definitely handle. Is this something that's still needed or wanted? And then how would that work? Would I need cvs write access to get anything done? Or can diff produce a patch that handles moving things around like that? Glen -- Free will is just an illusion.

Well, it was meant to link with the static library only however I admit my configure check is not that good. Rene, did you get the my comcat OK? I noticed that yours is exactly the same length but a different checksum. md5sum c/windows/system/comcat.dll 4e72c4b7eb91bca165fd04e0ab4f121e c/windows/system/comcat.dll It seems odd that your NS installation had a few differences to mine, was it the german version? Mine was 7.00 english. The other thing that can make a big diffence is of course the wine version. Previous posted info relates to wine-20041019-r3. What are you using ? It is frustrating that this is so close but not quite there. 0x10000000, 10001040, 00000000, 00000003) That is: hinstModule == 0x10000000, fdwAdd == ACM_DRIVERADDF_FUNCTION, lParam (acmDriverProc) == 0x10001040 - After verifying that the parameters are valid, the function calls: *phadid = (HACMDRIVERID) MSACM_RegisterDriver(NULL, NULL, hinstModule); Note that lParam is ignored (it even says so in a comment within the same file) - The MSACM_RegisterDriver() function, in turn, calls MSACM_FillCache(). - MSACM_FillCache() calls MSACM_Message() in order to initialize a ACMDRIVERDETAILSW structure. However, this function eventually requires that hinstModule be a valid LPWINE_DRIVER reference, which it is not - it is not even a valid pointer (as reported by HeapValidate(GetProcessHeap(), 0, ptr)). Presumably hinstModule is a reference to the executable itself, and lParam(acmDriverProc) was expected to be enough to build a complete driver reference. However, I believe this to be incomplete. So, the obvious solution should be to build a LPWINE_DRIVER function and add its reference to the chain maintained by winmm.dll. However, I am not sure of how to proceed from here. Since dlls/msacm/driver.c and dlls/winmm/driver.c end up in different DLLs, I don't think writing a function to manipulate the chain at dlls/winmm/driver.c could be called from dlls/msacm/driver.c without exporting it in the spec file. No obvious documented function in the spec file of winmm suggests itself as appropriate for the task of building a driver reference from outside winmm.dll, given only the driverProc. How is this solved in other cases (that is, in a way that does not prevent the resulting patch from being accepted)? I "fixed" this to use default months ago, it was fixed back to plughw:0,0 and now you submitted a patch to fix it back to default again!
