Hi, as some of you may have noticed, I did a bunch of theming-related work in Wine, which was done within a project in Google's Summer of Code. This is a small overview over what I've done: - All "non-standard" controls(those that are provided by comctl32, e.g. Tabs) are themed and seem to work quite well so far. - All standard controls except Buttons and Scrollbars are themed, though not always perfect. - Due the fact that uxtheme was actually used, a number of fixes and improvements have been made. However, there are still things left open: - Bugs. Notably, the dreaded A->W WM_GETTEXTLENGTH issue breaking all Delphi apps. Working on it though. - A number of smaller and not so small visual glitches. - Speed. Seems with alpha blending things are not exactly blazing along. At least for some of the issues I still have some ideas floating around, so I guess I'll stick around a bit longer and try to get them fixed. -f.r.

Yeah! I put together a web page to help guide new wine volunteers to do just that. It's at http://kegel.com/wine/qa and I'm starting to publicize it. Please have a look at it and let me know if you see anything that needs improving. I'll upload that content to winehq's web site once it's complete and polished. (And then maybe I'll turn my efforts to recruiting more wine *developers* to fix the bugs :-) - Dan

cant find dll in current dir.

I have installed an app without too many issues but now when running it , it cant find a dll that is in the current directory from which I ran the wine command. "cant find nstex50.dll" ls -ail nstex50.dll 407904 -rw-r--r-- 1 wino users 184370 Feb 13 2003 nstex50.dll running wine with windebug dll channel and grepping the output, I get the following : does that look like it can find it or not. I dont understand the wine output. I suspect the error is not what it is showing in the errdlg! Hi, There are lot of available bugs in bugzilla, 1305 till now. I closed some 5 issues. I have some 15 bugs on my agenda. I will be testing them or sending patches for them, starting tommorrow. If anybody is interested, please try to close as many old bugs as possible. We have old bugs that date from 2001, many might have been fixed by now. Thanks, Vijay

Wine/dlls/GDI/region.c - Optimization

Hi Wine team, I was reviewed some wine and XOrg code (I was writing a canvas library) and I have used XOrg region API (in wine project it's in /dll/GDI/region.c), I have done some optimizations in round (and elliptic) regions computing and my code is about 10x faster than original, I was sended an email to XOrg too, sorry that i wasn't sending a patch now, but if you are interested I can send commented sources and wine developers can merge it. It's very small modification that has about 20 lines, but speed is increased much, I'm working on another optimizations of regional API and I probabbly do more things to do things faster. where's the doc?

I know some work is underway to bring the wine doc upto date but is there any resource I can refer to in order to set up recent wine ? It is currently unusable since most text is coming up about two pixels high. Specifically winecfg is miniscule and unusable. The doc which installs with wine still seems to refer to documentation/samples/config and there is no information available on how to correct this font error. RTFM? I'd love to. Where is the FM? ;)

glibc versions

Are there any issues with more recent glibc? I am looking to what has changed on my system since I had wine working nicely a few months back. It occured to me that I probably have updated glibc at some point possibly later then the wine build that worked to well until I foolishly tried to update it. Is there anything here we need to be aware of? TIA for any detail. Regareds

Still struggling here. looks like a bug in the start up checks of the app. since the file it is looking for exists in the current directory. how can I trace in to find out the real cause of the exceptions? In the OpenOffice.org QA project, volunteers who have proven themselves by adding helpful comments to a few bug reports can then request to be given the ability to change all fields of a bug report (see http://qa.openoffice.org/helping.html) IMHO Wine might want to try that out, too. I hereby request those privileges ;-) I'm doing some bug triage, and I'd like to be able to add e.g. keyword 'download' to http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2632 but I'm not suitably empowered. Need help copying and painting with BitBlt

Hey guys, I'm working on implementing the SizeBar in HTML Help, but I'm running into troubles with BitBlt. The expected behavior is as follows: * User left-clicks on the SizeBar window. WM_LBUTTONDOWN - Copy the contents of the SizeBar window to a bitmap. * User "drags" the SizeBar left or right. WM_MOUSEMOVE - Draw the bitmap containing the SizeBar contents with XOR so the old position is erased and the new position is drawn. * User releases the SizeBar. WM_LBUTTONUP - Release bitmap resources. - Resize internal windows. The only thing not working is the color of the moving SizeBar. The color in the bar is black with very few specks of white here and there. Also, when the bar passes over text, the parts of the bar with text under it turns white. Another problem is that the bar is drawn 23 pixels too high, so the bar starts at y=26 even though I specify y=49 in BitBlt. Right now I'm using a couple global variables temporarily until I can get the feature to work, but the following is the function that copies the bits from the SizeBar window into the bitmap: static void SB_CopySizeBar(HHInfo *pHHInfo) { HDC hdc = GetDC(pHHInfo->hwndSizeBar); RECT rc; hdcMem = CreateCompatibleDC(hdc); SB_GetSizeBarRect(pHHInfo, &rc); hbm = CreateCompatibleBitmap(hdc, rc.right, rc.bottom); SelectObject(hdcMem, hbm); BitBlt(hdcMem, rc.left, rc.top, rc.right, rc.bottom, hdc, 0, 0, SRCCOPY); } When I paint the bar I use: BitBlt(hdc, rc.left, rc.top, rc.right, rc.bottom, hdcMem, 0, 0, SRCINVERT); I've attached a screen shot of what it should look like, and what it actually looks like. memory leak detection patch

Hi, This patch is written for MSI, but could be adapted to other code. It keeps a linked list of allocated memory and removes free'd memory from the list. It requires that you change all the HeapAlloc's or mallocs in a dll to msi_alloc (for example), but can detect unfree'd memory and invalid free's. I have discovered quite a few problems in my own code with this patch, so hopefully somebody else will find it useful too. Mike

oh, and a question about old config options

Hi, i also would like to ask the following question: I've sent in a patch to add an option to run applications in Managed mode (or not). My question is : what is the status of this option (and others from the old config file) in current wine: is there a policy to get rid of these options, or will they remain in wine. ATM this option still helps some apps (like winamp) to run in a better way. Furthermore: will there be an option added to winecfg where you can set the debug options (like RelayExclude) or do we have to do this for eternity in the registry now (which i find rather annoying) At least: what i as i user would find very handy is some kind of environment variable where you can set the searchpath for native dlls. Again, atm this has to be done in the registry, but a more userfriendly way would be better i think. Hello, All! I'm trying to compile Miranda-IM with Winelib (main module already compiled) and find oud that these two necessary headers are missed in Wine-includes. In order to compile miranda-im, I took 'em from MinGW win32api distribution: http://cvs.sourceforge.net/viewcvs.py/*checkout*/mingw/w32api/include/ntsec… http://cvs.sourceforge.net/viewcvs.py/*checkout*/mingw/w32api/include/secur… Are there any ways to officially include these files into Wine? -- With best regards, Peter Lemenkov.
