Are OpenBSD bugs worth filing?

Some of us on wine-users are trying to get Wine to install on OpenBSD. First, of course, we need to get it to compile on OpenBSD ... Are bugs on this platform considered valid reportable bugs? I couldn't find any OpenBSD bugs on a quick search in Bugzilla. State of things: it doesn't compile cleanly yet, and ./configure seems to fail to recognise a lot of libs that are in fact present. (I realise that running Windows on OpenBSD may cause a matter-antimatter explosion as the two security models meet ... But it has *hack value*!) - d.

Bugzilla - CVS/GIT tag

In an effort to remove the CVS/GIT tag, I was going to go through and start changing the versions based on when the bug was filed. I.e., look at when 1.1.10 was out, and any bugs filed in those dates with CVS/GIT tag get moved to 1.1.10. I'm thinking of starting with 0.9, as anything before that is _really_ old and not worth the effort... Anyone opposed to this plan? Also, the FIXME, NoAppDBEntry, and BugBuster should probably be removed...they're not that useful anyway... -- -Austin

Can you resend the patch? > No, the patch was flawed. The author knows about this, and posted an improved patch to bugzilla (bug 18011). The improved patch is mostly ok, but doesn't round correctly, and could be made a bit faster by using a lookup table instead of recalculating everything all the time.

Marshalling of remotable handles

Hello Wine developers, while trying to add proxy/stub code for shell32, I stumbled across the definition of remotable handles in IDL. We have - a RemotableHandle union. - the IDL typedefs for the wire representation of handles: | typedef [unique] RemotableHandle *wireHXXX; - the IDL declaration for the handle types itself: | typedef [wire_marshal(wireHXXX)] void*HXXX; This makes widl generate null pointer checks for HWND parameters, as HXXX is a void pointer without the unique attribute. My question is: Should widl really add this check? As the type is marshalled as wireHXXX, the null value is no problem for marshalling, so it could be safely left out. What I did in my repository was adding the [unique] attribute to the IDL typedef of the handle type: | typedef [unique, wire_marshal(wireHXXX)] void*HXXX; Is this the right approach to generally get rid of the NULL pointer checks for handles, or is widl to be fixed instead? wine-1.2 release criteria?

It's been six months since the release of 1.0, maybe now is a good time to review the 1.2 release criteria listed in http://www.winehq.org/wwn/353#WineConf%202008%20Keynote One big item that wasn't listed is "make asian users happy". I think we're starting to see some motion on that, cf. http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=16325 This is exciting... getting this fixed might bring in a lot of asian developers / testers / users. I'm nominating this one for 1.2. The criteria listed by Alexandre were: * Fix the remnant bugs from 1.0 (the new 1.2 bug milestone) * Better desktop integration with respect to transparency and desktop mode * Tests that pass Plus some 'nice to have' items. Would like at least one for 1.2: * DIB Engine * Quartz Driver * Direct3D 10 * USB Support (iPod, etc.) * 64-bit support Taking the one by one: - There are 83 open bugs nominated for 1.2: http://bugs.winehq.org/buglist.cgi?bug_status=UNCONFIRMED&bug_status=NEW&bu… We'll probably end up deferring a lot of these, and adding a few more. (If you think a bug not on this list needs adding to the list, add a comment to the bug saying "Nominating for 1.2.") - Better desktop integration with respect to transparency and desktop mode I don't know about this one, can somebody report on the status? - Tests that pass We're making progress here, but it's hard to quantify. http://test.winehq.org shows some runs still failing 20% of the tests, and others failing 0.3%, because we don't have a consistent set of machines running the tests. I would love to see that site add a feature showing the failure history for particular machines. And does anybody care? * USB Support (iPod, etc.) No motion here, I think. * 64-bit support Thanks to the gcc guy, Maarten, and Alexandre, "hello world" is working. Maarten is working on relay support now. These are exicting times for Wine... it doesn't feel like it's quite time to start a 1.2 release countdown, but maybe in a couple months.

This patch looks good. There's one last thing we should check: It seems that this is the only code that uses GL_PACK_ROW_LENGTH and friends, so the backup and restore is probably not needed. I think for now it is better to add it because I suspect the code in surface_download_data most likely depends on the default settings without properly controlling them. There's some related driver bug on OSX too(no radar filed yet, unfortunately). Using a PBO for glDrawPixels with a negative pixelzoom(wine uses -1 for y) breaks at least on my radeon X1600 with MacOS 10.5.5. I haven't yet tested it with 10.5.6, but if it is still broken there I have to remember to file a bug. It is sort of a follow-up bug to a bug fixed in 10.5.5; Before that glPixelZoom and PixelPos were completely ignored with PBOs. This bug was on my todo list for a long time by the way. I wanted to fix it, got distracted and forgot again :-/

[RFC] wined3d: Avoid triggering OPENGL errors when setting point size

(Resent, originally sent to -patches... Sorry) If WINED3DRS_POINTSCALEENABLE is false and WINED3DRS_POINTSIZE render state is set to an invalid size, glPointSize will fail. This happens in "Black & White 2", causing log/stderr to be flooded with opengl errors. I'm not sure if this should be fixed here, or when setting state value. Also, maybe it should be avoided to double-check against opengl bounds when WINED3DRS_POINTSCALEENABLE is true. I would be happy to get some feedback on that patch. -- Vincent Pelletier
