dxgi:device tests crash on X64_64

Hi Henri, I'm trying to fix at least the crashes on X64_64 for this test. The tests are done on a Windows 7 64bit VMware guest. The strange thing is that when I crosscompile the tests as is (64bit of course) the tests don't crash. When I add the following (first thing): BOOL is_wow64; IsWow64Process( GetCurrentProcess(), &is_wow64 ); the tests crashes at DXGID3D10CreateDevice() in create_device(). I added that IsWow64Process() just to see if I was indeed running the 64bit version of the test. Any idea what's going on? -- Cheers, Paul.

Hi Marcus, - if (ret) + if (ret && endCert) ret = netconn_verify_cert( endCert, store, server ); In this case you'll return TRUE if endCert is NULL, implying that the certificate chain is valid when it most likely isn't, or at least its validity couldn't be verified. Using trace in tests

All: I'm asking a question again, don't 'shoot' me, but I've noticed the use of the trace() function in tests and I would like to use this to troubleshoot what is incorrect in the EM_FORMATRANGE patch as it is not passing on MacOSX builds. The test appears to pass on WindowsXP sp2 as the failures did not appear in the winetest_latest for Wine-1.1.33. So, how do I enable the trace's I've added for testing so that I can fix the patch? Hi, guys. I've finally got some time today to complete genitive name support in GetDateFormat(). Now to make it useful for users I'd like to ask translators to update NLS files for languages that use this month form. I'm sure it's present in some Slavonic languages like Ukrainian and Belorussian, maybe some others (Asian?) too. Thanks.

Anti aliased fonts in wine - minimum font size

Hi all, I'm using Microsoft Office 2002 under wine. According to the instructions here: http://www.wine-reviews.net/wine-reviews/tips-n-tricks/how-to-enable-font-a… ...I've enabled font anti-aliasing, and it does work for fonts above a particular point size. However, it seems to turn itself off below a certain size. How can I configure the minimum font size at which to allow anti-aliasing? I've looked through the wine source and didn't see any obvious references to font size in the anti-aliasing-related code. Thanks, Avery

WineConf 2009 videos

The links can be found on the wiki page: http://wiki.winehq.org/WineConf2009 Because my camera isn't the greatest, Audacity was used to remove the noise from the audio track and using Kdenlive with melt the keynote video was filtered to make things somewhat visible again (the lights were off during that presentation). d3d8 test failure, more details.

Thanks to James Mckenzie and Austin English for earlier hints. I've installed more stuff (ubuntu packages) and spent a bit more time with d3d8. I assume most people get these tests to work, so I'm a bit distressed I cannot seem to get them to work properly, 100%. The large amount of test code that 'just works' is impressive. I'd be reassured I was not breaking things in any patch I submit if I could figure out why I'm not getting 100% (that is, what the heck might I be doing wrong?). Any hints/suggestions would be welcome. In dlls/d3d8/tests/visual.c one has the call that gets errors: 1357 if (caps.VertexShaderVersion >= D3DVS_VERSION(1, 1)) 1358 { 1359 test_rcp_rsq(device_ptr); 1360 } and test_rcp_rsq() does some *VertexShade calls not made elsewhere. The last few lines of 'make test' output in d3d8/tests are: fixme:d3d:WineD3D_ChoosePixelFormat Add OpenGL context recreation support to SetDepthStencilSurface fixme:d3d_draw:drawPrimitive Using software emulation because manual fog coordinates are provided visual.c:598: Test failed: Color components differ: c1 = 80, c2 = 00, c3 = 80 visual.c:632: Test failed: Color components differ: c1 = 80, c2 = 00, c3 = 80 visual.c:634: Test failed: Color component value is 80 make: *** [visual.ok] Error 3 These failures are in test_rcp_rsq(), the function called at line 1359. Note that other calls to to getPixelColor() (a function in the test code, tests/visual.c) work fine. Only when a couple of special Shaders are invoked does getPixelColor() get something the test does not expect. Possibly IDirect3DDevice8_CreateVertexShader() is not setting things up right or somehow the 'DRI' code in package libgl1-mesa-dri is not being effective? I stuck a couple sleep(5) calls in the test source (to slow things down at the error points) and I can see the shader code has an effect visually (the test code generates small-ish windows with color blocks). Please Review - Revised OS X Application Bundle patch

Hi, If any of the OS X hackers have time, could you guys take a look at the following patch? I'd like to get it in to move on to more interesting stuff like the icon generation cleanup in winemenubuilder using windowscodecs.dll, OS X association support and perhaps even proper dock integration. I've been testing this with the PowerPoint 2003 viewer and it works for me. I'd be interested in hearing if anyone has trouble with other applications. You need to have Wine installed somewhere in your path or you will need to manually hardcode the path to your wine executable in the script generator just like with the menu builder on the linux side. I don't like the amount of #ifdef'ing I had to do but didn't really see a better way. I know before Alexandre will accept he most likely will want me to - Cleanup comments a bit. - Maybe shorten some of the variable and function names So I am looking for any other feedback you have. Fixing the kernel32:actctx tests on Vista+

Hi Jacek, You are the original author of these tests. Is there any reason the "test3.manifest" name is reused? The tests currently crash (intermittently on some) on Vista+ and with the attached patch things seem to get better. Also, some of the changes to e.g. read_from_framebuffer() in patch 4 are really the same as what you're doing in this patch. Btw, note that the surface being offscreen is the common case, and onscreen surfaces are the exception. Maybe surface_is_onscreen() makes more sense, but I'll leave that up to you.

Hi, Over the years I have assisted a lot of people setting up Wine. In a lot of cases Wine doesn't work well because of missing libraries, pulseaudio, misconfigured display drivers and so on. I have written a script called 'winediag' which attempts to scan a system for the most common problems. Right now it contains mostly display driver related checks and a few basic audio / printing checks. I hope people have suggestions for most tests e.g. network tests (/etc/hosts, samba), more thorough driver checks and son. What do you guys think about it so far? (BTW I'm not a shell guru, so I would love to get some positive feedback) Thanks, Roderick Colenbrander

Introducing WineTestBot

Or, for those who like to be buzzword compliant, the Wine Testing Cloud Service. Inspired by all the talk about testing during WineConf 2009, I set out to fill a gap in Wine testing. Most of the Wine developers don't have access to a battery of Windows machines to run the tests they write/modify on. As a result, there are quite a few regressions in the tests themselves. The WineTestBot provides a whole bunch of Windows machines, ready to accept and run your modified tests. In its current state you can submit Windows executables (most likely cross-compiled on a Linux box) to the bot, which will run it in VMs of your choice. So, how does this work in practice? First, go to https://winetestbot.geldorp.nl and click on "Register" to register an account. Once your account is approved (you'll receive a notification via email) you can log in. After log in, the menu in the sidebar changes to include an item "Submit job". This allows you to upload an .exe from your local system to the bot. You can pick the VMs (Windows versions) you want to run the test on. From the "Home" page you can see the status of your job, by clicking on the job id you get a bit more info about the progress. Once the test is completed, the stdout generated by the test is retrieved from each VM and made available via that web page. The tests are run on VMware ESX VMs, so it's probably not all that useful to run sound and DirectDraw tests on them. Also, no Win9x VMs are available. I haven't set up 64-bit VMs yet, but those should be easy to add. Before each test run, the VMs are reset to a clean snapshot, so no cruft from old tests will be left around. Your test shouldn't take more than 5 minutes, which is more than the WineTest framework allows anyway. For each Windows version, there is a "base" VM and there can be additional VMs too. The idea is that the base VM is running the most up-to-date and most often used variation of that Windows version, so running your test on the base VMs should give you a good indication on how the test behaves. Additionally, you can run your tests on the other variations too. So, for example for XP the base VM is XP Professional SP3, but there are additional VMs like SP2, Media Center Edition, and a non-English version available too. Obviously, even when you use all available VMs you'll cover a very small subset of all possible configurations (most notably you won't test on a single physical system) so please do check http://test.winehq.org after your patch has been accepted to see if you introduced failures on other machines. The plan for the future is to extend this a bit. Speaking from my own experience, I know that programmers like to be as lazy as possible. Which means that having to cross-compile your test before you can send it off to the bot will be seen as a bit of a hurdle. So the next step will be to allow you to upload the git diff instead of a Windows executable. The bot will apply your diff to a git tree and take care of creating the cross-compiled Windows executable, which it will then run on the Windows VMs. Step 3 will be to have the bot watch wine-patches for anything that might impact the tests and do the apply diff/cross-compile/run thing automatically. Obviously I'll be looking at Dan's patch watcher for this 3rd step. Security is a concern, but perhaps more for me than for you :-). I have to trust you not to abuse this system. If you want to do something naughty please do it on your own machine. There are some safeguards in the system, like the timeout. In general, you should not expect any privacy, I do have access to the consoles of the VMs and firewall logs. If you want to use this system for something else than Wine tests, please talk to me first. I'd like to thank Paul Vriens who acted as beta tester and made some valuable suggestions. work underway: Dependency on openal incoming

Hi all, This message is mostly aimed towards package maintainers, since one of the discussions at wineconf last year was that package maintainers would like to hear in advance about changing dependencies. Wine's DirectSound implementation will, in the next release or the release after that, rely on OpenAL, the recommended library for linux or bsd's is openal-soft, and preferably a recent version, as old versions might miss certain experimental extensions that dsound will need. Mac users shouldn't need an external openal library, since it has its own openal implementation. Without openal at compile-time, dsound will still build, but report no sound devices found. Some games or other applications may refuse to run if no dsound devices are found, so its recommended that you build with openal. If openal is compiled in, but missing at runtime, dsound.dll will refuse to load, which probably means most games will not run either. Cheers, Maarten

Thanks Paul, Right! Tried to implement it too fast! Other parts of the test code dereference the function pointer and I took my lead from there without checking properly. As far as the length goes, I don't really know much about UNC pathnames, so I'm not sure what exactly the result should be. I will need to read up to find an example that I can guarantee the length of.
