Undefined references

Under solaris I get some undefined references popping up from yesterdays cvs (that I'm not used to seeing). Undefined first referenced symbol in file GetStartupInfoA ../../dlls/libwinecrt0.a(exe_main.o) GetModuleHandleA ../../dlls/libwinecrt0.a(exe_main.o) GetCommandLineA ../../dlls/libwinecrt0.a(exe_main.o) WinMain ../../dlls/libwinecrt0.a(exe_main.o) I'm used to seeing main undefined in libraries (presumably because the abblications using the dlls define the symbol), but not this collection. the wine executable fails with wine: failed to initialize: ld.so.1: wine: fatal: relocation error: file /opt/cfw/wine/lib/wine/ntdll.dll.so: symbol GetCommandLineA: referenced symbol not found Which seems to suggest it shouldn't be this way. Apparently there is a library that isn't being linked properly somewhere. Bob

CreateFile access/sharing problem

Any suggestions for how to handle a difference in file access and sharing handling between Wine (20050830) and WinXP? A program demonstrating the problem is attached below. A 3rd party installer program for a VST plugin is calling CreateFile with dwDesiredAccess = 0x1f01ff and dwSharedMode = FILE_SHARE_WRITE. It then calls ReadFile, which fails in Wine (error 5) but succeeds in WinXP. My "solution" (polite term) was to force GENERIC_READ|GENERIC_WRITE access in ntdll/NtCreateFile if the sharing type is FILE_SHARE_WRITE. I have not been able to figure out from the header files what named constants the program used for dwDesiredAccess, so I hard coded it with the values the program used in my example. But I did notice that FILE_ALL_ACCESS is a different value in Wine and my VC98 headers from DevStudio 6. In Wine it is: (STANDARD_RIGHTS_REQUIRED|SYNCHRONIZE|0x1ff) In VC98: (STANDARD_RIGHTS_REQUIRED|SYNCHRONIZE|0x3ff) Is this a Wine bug? The "access" and "sharing" parameters to CreateFile are making me feel stupid. I read and read and read the docs at http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/fileio/fs/… and still can't really figure out what they are supposed to do! I am pretty sure that my hack wouldn't stand and would love to hear the right way to fix this problem. A new tool to interact with Bugzilla

Hi all. I am quite new to wine and i love it very much, but there are some things to improve. For instance i want to use arts as soundoutput, but when it is enabled, wine crash at startup. Is anybody working on it to fix it? If not, i would like to try to do the job. Documentation of Parallel and Serial port configuration?

Hi again, Now that all my 'issues' about installing Wine 20050930 are resolved, I'm running a clean install like a completely new user and taking notes so I can document what *real* new users might get confused by, and what they need to do (as such a long-term Wine user myself, there are a lot of things that used to need to be done that are no longer needed, and things that now need to be done that didn't need to before) to get the Wine base system running optimally. (So far, Wine is doing quite well, btw-- I've only run winecfg and set up my drives, but the several sub-operations that I know needed to occur, such as creating the .wine directory, and correctly symlinking within dosdevices all did occur correctly, which is quite nice). The thing is, there's a question on wine-users as to how to configure parallel ports in the absence of the config file. Since I was running winecfg, I looked, and I don't see any configuration possible for parallel (or serial, since that might also be needed) ports. I myself don't use my ports, nor do I use any programs that need to connect to said ports, so I can't confirm that they would be automatically detected and configured (although I would imagine/deeply hope that they are, if the ports are properly set up on the system as a whole). However, naturally this user is not the only one who's going to want to know if they have to edit system.reg or something to configure their ports, and I certainly don't want to guess or assume in the docs. There's not even any 'status' output in winecfg, saying that there are parallel ports or serial ports detected and where, so how can a user verify said ports, and what must they do to change the port configuration if necessary? This is probably also a valid question for external MIDI ports, which are important to the audio community (which seems to need Windows apps since the native pro sound apps are not yet quite up to par). How to generate a code page file?

Okay, one more spam. I want to generate a new code page file for code page 20261, the T.61 (Teletex) code page. The comments in the c_*.c files in libs/unicode say the files are generated, so I was wondering.. by what? There's no file for 20261 on the unicode.org web site, but I wrote a Windows program that spits out the encoding of each unicode character in 20261. wineesd error during build on FC4

On fedora core 4 and wine version 20050930 and CVS from 20051005 I get wineesd error during make depend. Can anyone giver me hints on figuring out whats making it hiccup. Sorry if this has already been discussed just joined the list, I did look through the archive though and didn't see anything. Thanks for any help.

RH8 spec for 20050830

Can someone who understands wine build issues review this RPM spec file for me, please? The RPMs for Redhat 8 are getting pretty long in the tooth on the Wine downloads page... dating back to May 24. I wanted to build a source RPM to work with, so I modified the 20050524 spec file for 20050830. It seems that there are changes in fonts and documentation. I removed some lines that were keeping rpmbuild from working. But I feel like I am tampering with issues beyond my grasp. Do the attached changes to the spec file look ok (temporarily marked with "todo")? Any gotchas? Anything missing? DirectDraw driver question

Hello, Wine has 2 DDraw drivers: An accellerated HAL driver and a software-based user driver. I've noticed that the HAL driver uses many basic functionality from the user + gdi driver, and that the hal driver is the prefered one. But is there any situation where the user driver is used directly? Thanks, Stefan
