Since Microsoft have intentionally published it in the US where no such protection exists, it could be argued that it have exhausted its right to protection because of this. After all everybody could import it itself from the US if they wanted. In the case of Wine and other open source software this is especially true because of the Internet.

Winealsa: now fixed, interactive tests still ko.

Applying this patch fixes alsa : [repaired] dlls/winmm/winealsa/audio.c thanks to Daniel (Tom?) and Jerry. Now "Common" tests are ok. But some interactive tests still fail with winealsa. I attached the log. Problems building mshtml.dll and msi.dll on mingw.

In Sweden AFAIK the intent of the protection is to protect the investment of collecting facts that are not trivial to collect, to ensure that somebody does (or might do)... winesetuptk

Some time ago (about 2 years ago now), Codeweavers developped winesetuptk, a configuration tool for Wine. It is now listed with other Wine related files on sf.net. The problem is that the tool hasn't really followed Wine development (for example, removal of $VAR-style variables from config file), and some users experience problems because of that. It'd be better to not list it on our download page because of its staleness. OTOH, I know that Mike et al.'s winecfg is not ready yet for prime-time use. Still, having a working, commented text config file to work with rather than an obsolete GUI tool is preferable IMHO. So I'd recommend the removal (or hiding) of it if nobody steps up to update it to current Wine practices. Vincent
