This patch will break all scripts that use regedit to export part of the registry to stdout. It will also break all applications that run 'uninstaller --list' and then parse the output to determine what Windows applications are installed. It will also break all Winelib applications that print anything to stdout that then needs to be parsed by a script or some other program. Of course we have each of these cases in CrossOver. Then it will break all Windows application that analyze the output of another Windows application. For instance I expect Visual C++'s nmake+cl will not work anymore (as well as other make+compiler cases). Even compiling from the Visual C++ IDE may stop working. Finally it's a matter of what Wine is about. Wine is about transparently running Windows applications. Wine itself should be as invisible as possible, it should just get out of the way. We went out of our way (well iirc Alexandre did most of that work) to avoid having the Wine command line options interfer with the application's command line options. On my redhat 9, this patch doesn't work, I have to move the two defines at the very begining of the filtermapper.c file to make it work. Deficient implementation of SetFileTime or with stub GetSetFileTimestamp

Hi, Installing a system of the company in the Wine, I found a probable error, that is the following one: when the archives go being unpacked, them they are created in the directory with the current date and would have to be created with the same date of the compact file (as it is made in windows). Thus, in the next step, an update is made verifying the dates it of the files. However, in the Wine, it gives wrong for cause of this difference in the dates. I believe that I can myself make a patch, however as I still do not have experience in debugging Wine, he would like a suggestion of as to find the problem, because I do not know if the bug is in lzexpand (LZCopy) or in SetupApi (perhaps because of stub GetSetFileTimestamp) or because in SetFileTime "const FILETIME * lpCreationTime" simply is ignored, and in server, the function "static int set_file_time(obj_handle_t handle, time_t access_time, time_t write_time) " must not have more one parameter? Manually I make the system to install and run, however I want it running like in Windows. Thanks in advance. -- Marcelo Duarte

A GUI tool would be the worst solution possible. winesetuptk is excellent for an end user trying to tweak his own configuration. Something that runs while rpm -i (or dpkg -i) cannot depend on GUI, for it would prevent it from running while installing the system.
