I think this is http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=3277
can you chime in there if appropriate?

People keep running into something similar, most recently

Yes many users complains about that.
For now, I have no time for wine but i have some ideas to try to by-pass 
stupid drivers implementations 
(anyway i prefer that ATI will implement GLX 1.3 one day)
