Release 4.12 breakage

Folks,

There seems to be some serious breakage with 4.12 on 64-bit, sorry about
that. This is what happens when you try to push everything out before
leaving on vacation...

So I'm going to make a bug fix release soon, and *then* I'll go on
vacation for 3 weeks ;-)
