Summary: Application Menu doesn't work Product: Wine Version: 0.9.51. Platform: PC OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: trivial Priority: P2 Component: wine-misc AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: gizmo.gentoo@gmx.de
In Propellerheads Reason 3.0 and 4.0 the application menu doesn' work. This affects, in my experience, all versions >wine-0.9.46 or 0.9.47.
The problem is that i can't give you log files or something else, because there's no error message. It's just that u click on the menu and nothing happens.
You can download a demo version from the software here:
http://www.propellerheads.se/download/index.cfm?fuseaction=download_reason_d...
Let me know if i can do something to provide more information.
thanks,
marc

--- Comment #5 from Uffe Sjöstedt swedishsax@gmail.com 2008-07-17 05:38:24 --- I can confirm that the menus in Reason Demo 4.0 don't work under Wine 1.0.0 on a Debian Lenny / Intel Core2 Quad. All other controls (sliders, knobs, etc) are working just fine and the demo song plays on my Intel HDA built-in sound card.
Clicking the File menu header results in the message warn:gdi:GDI_GetObjPtr Invalid handle (nil) a total of 16 times. The same result is achieved by pressing just the Alt key. There is no response from the menu in either case.
Hope this helps shed some light on the problem.
Thanks,
/Uffe

I got it! It's not "alt + down" for me, but "down->alt->down"! It works :D
I made a mistake in previous post, it should be written "Alt + down arrow doesn't work" :)

--- Comment #29 from schroedingerscat@disroot.org --- With Wine v10.0-rc6, the workaround of pressing Alt+Arrow Down doesn't work anymore. This makes Reason about impossible to use since you cannot do fundamental things like opening the preferences to add a keyboard.
The workaround of pressing Alt+Arrow Down worked until Wine v10.0-rc5.
So the severity of this ticket should be adjusted accordingly.

That would mean this bug was fixed at some point, and then broke.
It would be helpful to know when this was originally fixed (the last report on this bug was from wine-6.11).
For the recent regression, a regression test would be helpful as well: https://gitlab.winehq.org/wine/wine/-/wikis/Regression-Testing
https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=10845
--- Comment #31 from schroedingerscat@disroot.org ---
That would mean this bug was fixed at some point, and then broke.
I think there was only a patch that would have fixed it. But the patch didn't get accepted. However, comment 18 (https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=10845#c18) then mentions that there's the workaround of pressing Alt+Arrow Key Down. Probably nobody before comment 18 thought of that, so they likely all stated "Reason's Main Menu doesn't work" because the way most people try to interact with the main menu is using the mouse. That's how I interpret the conversation.
My addition to the conversation however is: that workaround of pressing Alt+Arrow Key Down worked until Wine v10.0-rc5 but is now broken as of Wine v10.0-rc6.
I ran a regression test and the workaround stopped working at git commit 710b94e212501727b3b1b8deea06a7757df43d51
