Unless we're talking about ancient Intel GPUs, they are certainly fine for D3D9
games.

Since both nouveau and i965 have the same issue this might be a Mesa bug,
although that's not necessarily the case. I guess you could try to update Mesa
and see if that makes any difference. Can you also attach a screenshot for the
working and broken cases?
