The first screenshot is how text is rendered more or less all the time. I've also noticed that some other visual novels with similar GUIs show horribly (almost unreadably) un-antialiased text instead. Logging shows LOTS of ntdll.RtlFreeHeap() / ntdll.RtlAllocateHeap (,,,) which may make the game very slow. Attached the output of WINEDEBUG=+relay wine Startup.exe >&/tmp/output.txt starting from the main screen view (so excluding all logging while booting).
