I think the real fix should be to test WS_VISIBLE style in ShowWindow and do nothing for SW_HIDE && !WS_VISIBLE, or SW_SHOWxxx && WS_VISIBLE. I've developped a software with Windows Visual C++, i want to export it into Linux Red Hat 9.0. My idea was to use Wine and WineLib. So i import wine with command below: export CVROOT=\ :pserver:cvs(a)cvs.winehq.com:/home/wine cvs login # type "cvs" as the password cvs co wine cd wine ./configure && make The wine installation was performed correctly so i wanted to test wine and more exactly winemaker. Run <command>make clean</command> in the winemine source directory if it contains results of previous builds. Create a separate directory with name winemine2, so it won't conflict with the Wine copy of the application. Copy the sources of winemine (files *.c, *.h, *.rc) to this directory. Performance issues with Wine application

Hi All, I have a simulation tool that runs under windows NT/2K directly from the DOS command shell. When running it on a Windows machine I get 200 cycle/s. When running it on Linux via Wine I get ~10 cycle/s. I didn't realize Wine would have such a negative performance impact. Is there any way to trace where the performance bottleneck is? I actually don't have access to the source of the simulation tool, so any optimizations would have to be done directly in Wine. I should also mention that to get this application to work with Wine I had to copy over the Microsoft visual c++ dll: msvcp60.dll. Would this somehow be impacting the execution performance? By the way, I'm not sure if this is the right mail list for discussing performance issues. I tried the end user mail list but did not get a response from anyone.

FW: Crash due to _fini

Hi Dimi, I was trying to understand why any wine shared dll (like msvcrt.dll.so) crashed at the _fini call. This does not happen if I use my own created shared libraries. I was seeking help to find out why the crash occurs only with wine shared library. I had to port my windows code even on MacOS, hence I was attempting to use the wine libs without winegcc/wineg++ and specs file. That was the problem! In Mandrake you need a separate static devel package. Its curious that I was able to compile kernels, x.org, older levels of wine, etc. without it... I am appending from Notes 6.5.1 running under today's CVS. I have another problem, but I will report that separately. an odd focus problem

I have an odd focus problem to report. This problem is a regression, some time since 4/26 (which does not exhibit the problem). I have not had time to pull interative CVS levels to find out exactly when it appeared, but it was definitely failing last week (at first, I thought that it might be a window manager problem). The problem has to do with virtual desktop focus. If I switch to a different virtual desktop and back, my wine application disappears! There are no error messages or anything (including when running winedbg without any options), its just become totally invisible. It also disappears from the window manager task list. I believe that the application is still running, based on terminal output and the fact that the various wine processes still show up in top. In fact, with Lotus Notes (6.5.1), you have to kill off those processes to restart a 'disappeared' Notes. This problem is readily reproducable. Just define virtual desktops in Afterstep (1.8.11) or Enlightenment (the 0.65 snapshot of 16.7, for example), and run 'wine notepad'. Switch focus to another virtual desktop and back - the notepad is gone! I am running Mandrake cooker, kernel 2.6.7-rc1-mm1, and a May 17th CVS snapshot of x.org. Hi, I installed new version of wine -20040505 but when I tried to use winemaker to gnerate configuration file. it is not generated and generate Makefile direct. is it and error in winemaker or updates in new version. thanks aallabs
